I'm with you. It doesn't matter how much talent you have in a RB if there's nobody else to support him. Case in point - Barry Sanders, Detroit Lions. Everybody knew that if you could contain him, you'd beat the Lions.
It comes down to simple x's and o's. if you have five or six guys blocking, and 7 or 8 guys rushing, you're not going to move the ball. establishing the run is what keeps the linebackers and secondary from cheating. anybody that's noticed the number of 8 man fronts going against ND over the past couple years would have to agree...
