How is Lombard not rated on their list of top offensive linemen??? He's the #1 Guard on Scout. Wonder how long until Chris Martin is downgraded to a 4 star?

I think it depends on his camps... if he goes then he wont drop in my opinion, too good.

Thanks BGIF. Nice work, keep 'em coming.

Surprised that Woods is so high, even a shade higher than Barr, The word around L.A. is that Woods is all SC, with Carroll being a frequent visitor to the Serra H.S. campus. As for Lombard, well, different sets of eyes see different things I guess. As long as CW and the coaches see something, then I'll take their word for it. Regardless, there's no EXACT science to it; everyone misses, even Petey and Liar and Satan and yes, CW. We have a good year and we'll get our fair share of these recruits, for sure...

I honestly don't think that camps should have that much of an impact after going to my first one. What matters most to a scout, and to most anyone for that matter, is when the player have their pads on. Jamborees, regular season games, post season games, and all-star games matter the most.

I'm even more confused because in the rivals video about which recruits were going to ND for the spring game, Lombard was mentioned, and their were clips of his play in the camps. He at the very least seemed worthy of being ranked.

As for Chris Martin, in some rankings, he has fallen. In the USA Today ranking, he was the #45 player overall. Really? Has the guy doing that list not seen him play?

Yeah the Lombard thing surprises me quite a bit. Martin is just too dominant, especially moving to Jersey now i can only imagine his stock will rise. On the plus side our safety situation looks solid.

You've probably pinpointed the problem. Rivals evaluates and ranks Lombard as an OT not a OG.

When he committed to ND at the USA Combine he was listed by Scout as an OT then they changed his position to OG although I don't think they gave a reason why. How did he get to be reranked as #1 Guard on Scout?

Lombard himself when he committed stated that ND needed tackles. I thought the switch in position might be spin as ND was thought at that time to be in good shape with Henderson and Hurst as well. So many top tackles and only two slots. Someone moving to G would finesse any PT questions.

As for Lombard moving up the Rivals rankings he will need camps or a demolishing senior campaign as he's not going to get headlines from more offers nor interviews about campus visits to UF, OU, nor USC. He's said, he's done. He's not news. Camps, combines, and stellar senior year are all that's left.

Yeah in Rivals they have him pegged as having poor fundamentals, but a great physical specimen. To move up he will need to camp to prove he has worked on his technique and have a monster senior year. But they do feel his got alotof upside.

How does he rise from his current #1 listing?

Playing for The Hun School he will get less media coverage than he would in California. There's no Allen Wallace equivalent in NJ much less a Newberg nor Shurburtt. And The Hun School does not play a big time football schedule. Competition is very weak. If staying at the #1 listing is important ala the Presidential polls, he needed ink. You get that at camps making top ranked OT's look silly.

It's got nothing to do with his nor Lombard's abilities. It's about who's hot or at least who's perceived hot. If their not highly visibile they'll get passed by those that are making headlines and getting courted by Meyer, and Carroll, and Tressel.

I meant stock rise in overall rankings. I think he is 13 overall right now. If he does lose his 5th star then we have a problem.

Ok but he still needs to be in the spotlight for that to happen. And regardless of the competition level at this new school he's not going to be ringing up sensational stats. No opportunity at DE for 4000 yards passing, or 300 yards rushing in the first half. He's not going to pile up 120 tackles and 20 sacks. His team only plays an 8 game season.
