In the spirit of threads started by Óglaigh_na_hÉireann, who do you guys take in this one?

Series Record: Series tied 49-49-7 (as of 2004)

Trophy: None, but the winning players (for either side) get gold cloth stars to put on their letter sweaters for victories

Notes: While this is the most famous of the games, Army and Navy also both play Air Force. The one with the best record of games between the three gets the Commander-In-Chief trophy each year.

The question is really who do you cheer for.

Air Force, in honor of my old man. :)

Actually, Army-Navy is hard to pick. I generally go with the underdog, unless the favorite has the chance to achieve glory such as a top 25 ranking such as recent Navy teams.

Navy wins handily. I'm glad this was a game pick however, because Óglaigh_na_hÉireann's polls were who do you like/hate more. In this case it would be impossible to decide.
It would be like asking someone to decide between Sophia Loren and Claudia Cardinale.
"Can't I have both?"

As somebody who was in the Army, I can only cheer for Army.

Here it is, the second greatest fight song in all the land.

HOOOOOORAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://bands.army.mil/music/armysong.asp

Intro: March along, sing our song, with the Army of the free
Count the brave, count the true, who have fought to victory
We’re the Army and proud of our name
We’re the Army and proudly proclaim

Verse: First to fight for the right,
And to build the Nation’s might,
And The Army Goes Rolling Along
Proud of all we have done,
Fighting till the battle’s won,
And the Army Goes Rolling Along.

Refrain: Then it’s Hi! Hi! Hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong
For where e’er we go,
You will always know
That The Army Goes Rolling Along.

Verse: Valley Forge, Custer’s ranks,
San Juan Hill and Patton’s tanks,
And the Army went rolling along
Minute men, from the start,
Always fighting from the heart,
And the Army keeps rolling along.
(refrain)

Verse: Men in rags, men who froze,
Still that Army met its foes,
And the Army went rolling along.
Faith in God, then we’re right,
And we’ll fight with all our might,
As the Army keeps rolling along.
(refrain)

i cheer for notre dame and thats it.

Tut, tut...

You should cheer for ND...THEN once we beat that team you should root for them the entire rest of the season.

I hope we are 12-0 and UM goes 11-1. Our Strength of Schedule depends on it. It could be the difference between the BIGGEST bowl and a big bowl.

And with Navy, I root for them in all games but 1.

8 yrs in the Army have to go with the Knights on this one. Navy has a stud team but this is always one of the best games of the year.

Until Last years Fiesta Bowl I had only seen ND play the service acadamies and nothing beats seeing all those cadets in uniform march into the stadium. Notre Dame fans are the best too because they always stand and applaud as the cadets file in.

HOOOOOORAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??? that's a marine corps thing. the army does HOOOOAAAAHH!

I cheer for Army. I was accepted at west point and very nearly went there before deciding on ND. I know some great people who go there now. of course I'll be cheering for ND when they play, but I want the Army team to have success. It's good for cadet moral.

Navy. I'm thinking about maybe joining the Marine Corps ROTC.. but not too many schools offer it.

I was under the impression that no school offers Marine Corps ROTC. (I've never heard of one.) You have to join the Navy ROTC, and then when your summer assignments roll around, you go to a Marine Corps base.

whoops, how did that single R get in there. I remember the Marines doing some funky sound that I can't quite duplicate with letters.

You can be a Marine Option midshipman as part of Navy ROTC.

As for me, after serving four years in the US Army paying Uncle Sam back for my ND degree, I have to say, without hesitation:

GO ARMY!! BEAT NAVY!!

HOOAH!

It's afilliated with the Navy, but at a few schools, the Marine Corps has its own, largely independent entity. While they are still under the umbrella of the Navy, they do a lot of the PT and military exercises on their own.

In Ohio, only the Ohio State University and Miami University offer it. Most of the officers from Lima Company are from OSU, I believe.

A few of the schools I'm looking at have Marine ROTC. Auburn, the school I'm looking at most, has it.

But really, I should have said that I'm not planning on doing the typical ROTC. There is a different program which offers the classes/training in the summers before your Junior and Senior years, and are held on campus. I would opt for this route for three reasons. 1: I have two years to make the decision on whether the military is my future. I'll look into business, political science, and maybe english, and if none of those interest me, I won't hesitate to join the USMC. 2: I get to live a normal social life during the school year. 3: I get to stay in the south for the summer. Ohio is great and I'd love to see my friends during the summer, but the same scenery gets boring after a short while. I'll still have a little time in the summer and all of winter and thanksgiving breaks to catch-up with my Columbus roots.
