Well, I don't think the job has to be done and I don't think there is that large of a jump between the removing of humanity that Chris Kyle was doing and the removing of humanity that the Nazis did to the Jews or that Zionists are now doing to the Palestinians. In all cases it was/is justified for some greater good.
Once again there is someone that sits behind a keyboard and offers his opinion on something that he knows NOTHING about. If you think so poorly of our militay then go live somewhere else. How can you enjoy the blanket of protection that the US Military provides and then question how it is provided. I have the utmost respect for our service men and what they sacrifice for us, not the government agenda. I've lost some good friends and had some come back not quite the same and to hear them talk what they do day to day in the line of duty, it's about protecting each other over there. To call Chris anything other than an American Heroe is bullshit, and how dare you question his humanity while doing his job protecting his fellow service men. You can sit back and pass judgement while sitting at your computer in your mom's basement because it's not your friends or family at risk over there. Do me a favor when you're done evaluating the humanity in it all read a history book or donate your time to help a wounded veteran and if your not a total moron you might begin to understand.

"The first time, you're not even sure you can do it," he said. "But I'm not over there looking at these people as people. I'm not wondering if he has a family. I'm just trying to keep my guys safe. Every time I kill someone, he can't plant an IED. You don't think twice about it."

Maybe every person he ever killed was a bad guy, but the fact that he removed their humanity is disgusting.

He removed their humanity as a way to protect himself, his comrades, and you.

IF you're saying that you don't think the US should be there, it's about the only point worth making. To compare Mr. Kyle to the Nazi's is well beyond repugnant.

ACamp told me that the US is a nation of good so comparing us to the Nazis who put women and children in ovens is ludicrous. I don't think there is a clear distinction between the good and the bad guys. When it comes down to it, killing someone is killing someone. I certainly wouldn't want to be put in an oven or shot without knowing my time was up, but I think I would rather know I was going to die so I could have a final thought vs. not.

Also the point of killing women and children, we do that. I think the numbers are that 1 in 4 people killed by drones are civilians. These numbers are probably low since all males 16? or older are considered combatants unless it can be proved otherwise after they're already dead.

I just don't know where to start, but I'll end it with a negative rep.

No nation is perfect but anyone who thinks this isn't a nation of good can go spend some time in Somalia and get back to us... We do not nor ever have knowingly, actively and wantingly killed women and children just do so, or advocated genocide... Is the cop who guns down a child murderer in a gun battle as bad as the murderer?? Apparently so...

If Karma does play a role in things Aves is due to get pretty hard, ill just say that. The disrespect thrown at the death national hero is disturbing.

You mean except for the Native Americans?

Dehuminization of the enemy is the terminology behind what you are stating. Simply put this is a physcological mechanism that allows one to ignore a target, or enemies, individuality.

This is not how Mr. Kyle chose too feel about the situation, but how he was "trained" to feel about it. This is exactly the reason the military uses targets with human "likeness" for training, which desensitizes individuals in thinking before they fire on their enemy. Additionally, terminology utilized to refer to the enemy, such as "towelhead", is a way of making the enemy seem "less than human".

All of this has been trained in the military since the World Wars, when it was found in a study that soldiers were firing over the enemies heads "on purpose", because they could not fire at those that looked like them.

If you have a qualm with how the military does things, then direct your attention towards them, not the individuals.

very sad story altogether, read some articles there that said the man who shot him was actually a veteran who suffered from PTSD and Kyle was trying to help him.

The treatment of the Native Americans was terrible. I've been to the Southwest, and seen some of the places that we put the reservations; you can't grow a f'in tumbleweed out there. But that was 200 years ago. Guess what? We've grown! The US military is a professional military now; not a group of convicts, misfits, and misguided adventurers. I get that you are against violence. That's fine. Despite what some people may say, I am ok with people questioning how we provide their freedom; as long as they do it responsibly. If you want to question whether we are over there for humanitarian reasons, or just to provide oil companies with a cheap source of oil, that's fine. But to question how this man coped with doing his job, when he is not accused of any war crimes or atrocities, is not responsible. Comparing his coping mechanism to the Nazis is REALLY irresponsible. Don't let your hatred of violence cloud your judgement on this one.

Horrible post.

Take that crap elsewhere. Those animals aren't human. The way they treat women and target American civilians doesn't afford them the right to be called, human

May he RIP.

If you aren't leaving your respects for the man and want to debate politics or morals or something else take it to another thread. There are plenty to choose from or if none fit there is a "New Thread" button. Please show the man enough respect to take it elsewhere even if you disagree with him. He has done this country a great service and at least deserves that from you.
