ND's D will be fine once we get some speed and some studs in the front 7 like most of our recruits coming in on the D side of the ball. If your going to give CW some slack on the offensive side of the ball, then Minter should get the same slack.

I don't think you can blame Minter for any of the losses this year. USC and Michigan losses were a result of the offense dropping passes, turnovers, and not capitalizing on opportunities. For ND to beat teams like that they must play a near flawless game. Buddy Ryan couldn't come up with a scheme to stop Mich or USC. But the offense could sure help out and put some drives together and control the clock.

I don't know guys.When he blitzes half the time noone can get to the quarterback in time and BAM,pass play down field.
kinda hard to coach players who aren't that much faster then minter himself.
he could change a few play calls from time to time,but he knows the talent level he has and tries to compensate for it.

Why do some of you think that notre dame has the best defnsive players in the country?just because they have catchy names?or because they were recruited by willingham?

look it doesn't take very long in a game to know when you are beat.Even in a zone coverage when that guy goes in your zone you are required to pick him up.Minter is not out there,all he can do is teach a player the fundamentals.If they don't have the speed...they don't have the speed.
Oh,last i checked they don't have a lot of height either.Doesn't that have a lot to do with why weis exposed a lot of backs the last couple years with the tall recievers he has?

Greg Schiano takes the Miami job. Could Weis persuade one Darren Rizzi to come into South Bend as his DC? He's young, energetic and has done a lot for Rutgers in terms of scoring and total defense with "mediocre" talent in an all offense league.

I've always like Dick Bumpas. He's the Defensive Coord for TCU. He has always done fairly well with the talent he has had and TCU has a defense that ranks third nationally against the run (64.8 yards) and seventh in overall defense (259.2 yards). Here is a link to his resume. It would never happen, but as long as some of us are throwing names out there, I'll throw his. I would still take Amato and Romeo in a heartbeat over him, but Bumpas is a pretty good coach too.

Well, you work with what you've got. It's not like it's the coaches fault that Ty recruited like a tool.

That being said, I am not excusing Minter from ALL responsibility...but this early on its really hard to tell how much he bears.
