Quandary!

I'm a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, so as any of you who follow baseball know, that's been even tougher over the past 20 years (from a win-loss standpoint) than being an ND fan.

Now that my Pirates have seemed to finally have pulled their head out of their butt and are in a pennant race, I check their schedule for tomorrow and see that they're playing The Cubs, but The Shark is starting for Chicago!

I never root against Samardzija, but my Pirates are only a half game out of first!

Crap!

Well, I guess I'll have to root for Shark tomorrow, and just hope the Reds and Cardinals lose their games, too.

Root for your Pirates. Doesn't matter whose pitching. Know that The Shark will have some bad games in his career no matter what so why not let one of them be against your team. He will bounce back.

Now, as a Met fan, I'd argue it's tougher for us because as a Pirate fan, you know you're gonna suck, as a Met fan, well, you can't duped into thinking you're gonna be good then either collapse or well, collapse.

Root for your team. Jeff is a pro now and will play for whoever signs his checks.

Thats not a dig on The Shark, just a fact about pro sports. He could be on a different team next week.

jeff pitches 6.3 innings and leaves with 2-1 lead......then Andrew McCutchen belts 2 bombs in the final 3 innings and PIT wins....best of both worlds

Never, ever root against your team....Even if you are a Stoolburgh fan. Jeff will have many more games and the Pirates are rolling. Go with it.

Yea, you guys are probably right. Every game could end up being a difference maker for my Pirates... And like TDHeysus said, maybe Shark could pitch masterfully, but then the bullpen blows it or something.

@Grahambo - That sentiment made me smile, because I have a buddy who is a huge Mets fan and he says the same thing: At least in my case I don't get kicked in the guts every year; I never expected to win anything.

Gotta root for your team. Big Chipper Jones fan growing up but I don't want him beating the Dodgers. You can cheer for Shark but that doesn't mean you have to want him to win.
