I do believe in this football program, even more so now that Evan came into the game. Next week is the time that the Irish stomp on the Bruins. Let's go boys and girls there is still a lot of football left. Let's give it up to them.....

Franky,

Franky, this team is going to Hollywood and it will be more of the same.

All I know about ND football is what I see on the field and read on this and other forums, but it seems to me the staff is bringing along the great athletes too slowly. They are treatiing the newbies like newbies and protecting them too much by keeping it too simple . When you treat someone like an idiot you get an idiot response. Let the best knock heads, fly for catches (Golden Tate), throw the ball downfield. Let the nasty athletes get nasty at practice and learn by experience, not the chalkboard or meeting room.

One good thing I saw that might not mean much to some is the celebration with Brown and Crum on the sidelines. This goes beyond X and O and shows athlete and coach working for each other. That is the "X Factor" that wins games.

This team has some greatness waiting to unleash. Might take a couple more games though. Remember, this is essentially an old high school team playing against some of the better teams in the country. Maybe someone can do an age comparison of the Irish starters compared to the teams they have played...

You, sir, either did not watch the game or are obtuse yourself. Were it not for our D, Purdue had 60 points or more handed to them.

Oblong, but not obtuse, meat-bat.

My point is the offense was clicking and had definitely seized momentum in the 4th quarter. When we cut it to 7, it became the responsibility of the defense to make plays and get the ball back for a chance to win the game. 5 plays, 59 yards, 2 minutes and 25 seconds. That has nothing to do with the offense. Purdue is pedestrian.

The defense did not make the plays when the team needed it the most, so they should take the heat.

The one thing that I think that I noticed from this game is that I think we need to try to get Armando Allen the ball more. I know he fumbled but he got killed because the lineman did not get out fast enough on that screen pass. I dont know how well normal screens would work either because it seems that our line this year has been bad at getting out and blocking screens, I have seen a few times this year where it looked like Allen had room in front of him but the linemen out their failed to make a block and Allen got tackled before he could get going. I think maybe start Allen out in the backfield and then motion out in the slot and maybe get a linebacker or safety matched on him and try to get mismatches that way, or maybe even try him on an end around. He is a potential gamebreaker like Tate and if we could get him going I think it would add a whole new dimension to the offense.
