I've heard this as we'll. Some one with a Rivals sub said they recieved an email Claussen made his verbal on Monday. With that said, this is all hear say. I'm not trying to spread hype but this is supposedly what it said:

"Jimmy Clausen is going to ND. He apparently committed on Monday. Our guys are still trying to confirm, but looks pretty solid right now."

i saw that pasted email on a board too. but notice the name at the bottom with the 800 number. a genius ploy to boost saled on they're tip line. what would a 'member services' rep know in a group like rivals. that aside....

it would be awesome to hear confirmation early next week or asap. this would lead to many early commits from top players willing to follow clausen into the nd's glorious return after a decade of mediocrity. i'm going to the store after work for some super glue to make sure my fingers stay crossed until some kind of official statement is made...even if that's months away :)

You're right that a early commit from claussen would carry a lot of weight in pulling in other recruits. I also heard that Tyler from the same school as Jimmy might be a package deal. Anyone have any more info on that?

Is there anywhere else that says this or anything to do with his commit?

I don't think JC and Tyler are a package deal, but wouldn't mind getting both. I think if JC commits he will turn from a recruit to a recruiter, and could be able to sway some big recruits to come to ND.

I have read before that Tyler said he will wait for Jimmy to commit and then he will more than likely go where ever he want.

They are more closer to a packaged deal than Wenger and Young were. Tyler lives with the Clausens. They're like brothers.

News anyone?

Jimmy Clausen could very well go public at the Blue and Gold Game on April 22

With Clausen, Tyler and Benn will follow.

Weis could very well already have Clausen and plan to have him go public at the BG Game while all the other junior guests are there. Imagine what kind of a p.r. move that would be.

I hope he has, as has been said by so many already it would be a great boost to our recruiting. There are many top recruits that would absolutely take notice of it and give us a lot of leverage.

I would love to see Clausen bring somebody like Benn with him... but

There are two offensive players in 2007 that I would really love to see come to ND

First, I would love to see Jimmy commit and start to recruit Deonte Thompson... wide receiver with under 4.3 40 time... and yes that's combine

and second.. even though I'm not sure if he's interested in ND at all... Noel Devine.. has anyone seen video on this kid?... its ridiculous... his high school highlight reel puts Reggie Bush to shame... he would be a very nice compliment to go along with Aldridge

Hopefully Clausen can bring these guys with him

I hear Noel Devine is a sketchy character who barely has the grades to get into LSU nevermind Notre Dame. He is a thug and will probably end up at FSU or Miami

I've heard that some other boards as well... I didn't know that but if thats the case then we don't want him

I would actually narrow it down to Miami for him:wave:

If Noel Devine ever steps foot on ND campus, it will be with a visiting team. No way could he get in.

I saw this posted on another board. I don't have any clue regarding to it's authenticity, but thought I would share it to see if anyone can confirm the message below.

Here is a response by a Rivals administrator regarding the rumor of Jimmy.

"Before you guys go off on a speculation tangent, here is the story. This rumor started by a members post on the Tenn board. It spread over here when Janna (who still works in Rivals customer service - no she wasn't fired) had sent the rumor out via email to a couple friends. This "friend" then posted it (against her wishes) on the Tenn board as official Rivals news; and then the "where there is smoke there is fire" debate began". We at Rivals apologize for any speculation that occurred stemming from this "personal" email. However, this was never posted in any article our website and is not considered a reliable source of any information regarding Notre Dame recruiting. It's an internet rumor, no truth to it -- end of story".

North Fort Myers (Fla.) High School RB Noel Devine isn't exactly media friendly.

"He doesn't even talk to the local press around here," North Fort Myers High coach James Iandoli said.

The reason?

Devine has been under intense media scrutiny throughout his career, and it reached a head with reports of his possible adoption by NFL star Deion Sanders and his subsequent spurning of Sanders and return home.

"He's not a big fan of the media because of the whole Deion scrutiny," Iandoli said. "People either love or hate him."

Most college coaches love him.

Devine is already raking in the offers.

Iandoli says UF and FSU have offered, but that Devine is still waiting on a Cane offer.

"My ties have been with (fired UM coach) Art Kehoe, so I haven't met the guy recruiting this area because obviously it's going to be a new guy," Iandoli said. "It's new coaches and they're trying to get their ducks lined up.

"It's still early, there's so much time."

Iandoli says early indications are that Devine may remain in-state.

"He's interested in all the major Florida schools -- he's very interested in them," Iandoli said. "He's considering his options, but he does the Florida majors high up."

In the past, Kehoe and Dan Werner had recruited the North Fort Myers area.

"Noel is a fan of Miami," Iandoli said. "He grew up liking them, obviously it's Tailback U. I befriended Art Kehoe, he's well-known in this area, and I've worked the down and dirty camp with him."

Iandoli says he thinks Kehoe no longer being on UM's staff could hurt Miami's chances with Devine.

"And with (Don) Soldinger not being there, too," Iandoli said. "I don't know how these kids always think, but Noel did bring that up to me. He just asked and I said yeah, he's no longer there. He was like, hmm. He's considering other schools too if things go well grade-wise."

Devine has some work to do if he wants to qualify.

But he's immensely qualified on the field.

His highlight film has circulated and always draws the same response: "Wow."

There he is spinning out of tackles, emerging almost impossibly from a crowd of defenders, making defensive backs look like they're standing still.

"And that's his freshman film," Iandoli says. "Anytime he touches the ball, you don't necessarily know what's going to happen. You just hold your breath. He's an explosive type back."

This past season as a junior Devine rushed for almost 2,000 yards on 173 attempts with 24 touchdowns. And that was behind a sub par offensive line.

His sophomore year he had 1,800 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns.

As a freshman Devine played behind a Division I tailback. Devine was only 150 pounds at the time (he's now up to 175 pounds), and he rushed 74 times for 1,200 yards with 11 touchdowns.

The first-ever carry of his high school career?

"He ran for a 90-yard TD against Barron Collier," Iandoli said.

The best game of Devine's career?

He had nine carries for 392 yards and six touchdowns against Fort Myers Riverdale.

His football talent is unquestioned.

But some in the press have questioned his character. Iandoli says Devine's portrayal in some reports as a troubled youngster is way off base.

"He's a wonderful kid," Iandoli said. "He's got a big heart. He just wants to be liked and be with his friends. Unfortunately, the media has brought this upon him. He's not an adult, and they are treating him like an adult professional athlete, and that should not be the case. I did everything I can in his earlier years to steer away the media, protect him as much as I can. People have to remember he's a kid. Let him do your taxes if you think he's so much of an adult."

He can't even vote and he's already at odds with the media? That's great stuff.

Deion Sanders was going to adopt him, but Noel decided to come home? This sounds like soap opera material here. Also sounds like Deion is trying to sway him towards Florida State.

"People either love him or hate him." He just turned 17!!

Sounds like he won't come close to getting past admissions at ND.

I've looked at all of his video reels. Simply amazing on the field. This is no one that ND will come close to offering, though.
