Alot of the threads on here discuss the possibility of ND going to a more balanced attack between the pass and run (power back). I think its a good idea.

a. we lost our biggest play maker. mike floyd cannot be replaced. hes just to good. other guys can fill in and contribute but not on his level. he is clutch in any situation and he will be missed down the road when its a close game and we need a big play to catch momentum.

b. Our defense is pretty bad. without floyd some of our offensive production will drop. well want to sustain drives as long as possible, especially against SC, keeping pete c's offense on the side lines is a must.

Im lookin at the depth chart to find some guys who may jump in the lineup based just on size, I dont feel like lookin up 40 times or how they run or whatever. Back up LB's, runningbacks..etc

1. Burger, Bobby
2. Burke, Tom
3. McDonald, Anthony
4. Narvaez, Mike
5. Paskorz, Steve

Im not

Hope for Aldridge to return or Hughes to embrace playing in the FB slot. Burger may be a chip blocker but he's not a move the chains FB.

1. Burger, Bobby played DE at Dayton. Transfer. Walked on TE moved to FB due to Aldridge injury. He's a blocker at best. Rudy with size.

2. Burke, Tom walk on LB

3. McDonald, Anthony LB was 8th ranked MLB as recruit. Has had injury problems in his career.

4. Narvaez, Mike walk on FB

5. Paskorz, Steve got moved to FB then got passed over for Aldridge and then Hughes, and Burger.

You'll have to define what you mean by "powere back". You mentioned a bunch of names for possible fullbacks. Are you suggesting that they come out in I formation more often, and just pound the ball? Because, as much improvement as I have seen from the O Line, I don't think they are capable of just shoving the ball down many defenses' throats.

If you're talking about just sending a big bruising back out there to pound the rock:

Again, we don't have the personnel for that.

I'm just thinking hypothetically. Like i said, Ive got no idea how any of these guys run. I just saw there size and figured why not spark a discussion about it. We obviously are not going to be anywhere near as explosive without Floyd. Having a guy who can pound the rock and beat up defensive lines would do a lot for this team. Rather then get into offensive shootouts.

I agree. We just don't have that guy. And, even if we did, I'm not sure how effective it could be. I still think this O Line has a long way to go, before we can just line and run the ball down anyone's throats.

Robert Hughes if he embraces the rol (lokked like he did against Purdue) can be a solid power back. He refused to go down in the 4th quarter (both a good and bad thing considering the time).

A Mac is a LB and can be a very good one at that. He might not be the athlete Te'o is but he has good speed. For missing his entire freshman year with an injury, he has earned quite a bit of PT and looks the part.

Aldridge should be back soon vs USC at the latest. He actually warmed up in pads vs. Purdue but then took them off, I guess they decided to hold him again.

Hughes did well against Purdue. Burger is a heck of a blocker.

I watched the recruiting video of Te'o and hell he might be a hell of a power runner. HaHa. in all seriousness, if Hughes can run the ball like he did at Purdue week in and week out, that would be your answer. he looked real good and if jimmy is handing him the ball then the defense has to be in check thinking pass.
