Not sure if you are just hating on CW, or what, murph......but check your stats. Shaquelle Evans has not one single carry, in ND's official stats. So I'm not sure where you have seen Shaq get "a hell of a lot more yardage off tckle than Hughes does up the middle."

Not hating on CW, anyone on this board can tell you I'm a supporter, but everyone knows....Hughes up the middle, the whole season and it's only worked in one game. I'm just desperate for something new....different. sorry for being negative that's not what I want here.

i'm just afraid with the buyout, they won't want to spend that much on another guy. just my thoughts

Just come close to beating USC and then float some rumours about NFL jobs calling. You'll get a raise and an extension in no time!

if we get a new coach, no way we make a bcs next year. hate to say it.

Not making the BCS next year with Clausen and Tate.

ND only gets half of what everyone else gets, so that's not really an accurate statement. But the buzz of a big name guy could certainly increase revenues.

Half of $18million is a pretty good payday. Did you know that ND gets $3million a year from the BCS if they don't even make the BCS?

Great point. Case and point weis gets to a bcs bowl game and gets the contract extenstion

Almost beating USC got him the raise.

there are only 1 or 2 teams tops that will have more talent than nd. a competent coach can win 10 games next year.

i disagree. 2 teams with more talent, this is crazy talk.

no jimmy, no golden, no o line. same sorry ass defense.

not crazy talk. on paper, looking at how recruiting classes were ranked, and even mel kiper, jr (i know, some people hate him) agree notre dame had more raw talent than anyone but usc this year. i dont see any teams on next years schedule that could truly claim more talent (outside of USC).

it is an illusion that teams like pitt have more talent. a better record doesnt make it so. the better record is a matter of development of talent and better coaching.

Not sure where you are getting those numbers, but they are wrong. According to the BCS site, anyway.

From CFB - - FOX Sports on MSN :

4. Notre Dame received $1.3 million. If it does not play in a BCS game, Notre Dame receives 1/66th of the net revenue-there are 66 teams in the AQ conferences. (If Notre Dame plays in a BCS game, it receives $4.5 million.)

i will go all in, and bankrupt you 2000 of your vbucks that we don't finish in the top 3 if jimmy and golden leave.

and i don't know how we would figure it out, but i know our talent isn't comparable without jimmy and golden,

our oline will be brand new.that is foolish to think we have the 3rd most talent in all of ncaa.

our defense is ranked what, 75th. no way they get that much better.

It was something I read a long time ago, but regardless. $1.3Mill for going 8-4 or 0-12 is pretty good. And its 1/3rd to 1/4th your coaches salary.

Hughes only had 4 carries. It's not like giving Hughes 4 carries for 11 yards lost the game for ND.

I agree. But let's get back to the point. Someone asserted that the new coach could help offset the cost of getting rid of Weis and bringing in a new staff, based on the increased revenue from playing in a NC game. I merely pointed out that ND doesn't get a full share, so his statement wasn't entirely accurate.

ND may end up with less talent next year than they currently have (which should have been enough talent to go 10-2), but they should still beat 10 of their opponents next year because they will still be left with more talent than 10 of them (probably 11).

Agreed, and it won't get any better for next year: first six games

Purdue
Michigan
At Mich St
Stanford
At Boston College
Pittsburgh

Anything would be better than this year. If we went 8-4 next year with a new HC and showed signs of improvement,(especially on defense) I would be really happy.

I have been rather quiet the past month or so because of all the craziness here about CW. I have a simple question, does anyone care if Jimmy comes back next year??

Diz

My concern is that Jimmy's stock might drop in the NFL draft if he sticks around another year. Maybe not...just wondering out loud.

Could it get any lower? He reminded me more of Brady in Cleveland today than Jimmy in south Bend. Oh snap....I gotta watch Brady in Cleveland tomorrow........uuggghhhhh.

I don't know about you--and no offense intended--but I root for Notre Dame, not Jimmy Clausen. If he were to stick around another season that would be great.

On this we agree. I don't care if Jimmy is a good pro or not as long as we win a NC.

Charlie's time is up. Let's get a coach in that actually assemble a good defense. It sure hasn't happened during the CW era. if any players want to leave if CW gets canned, then so be it....it'd not like they have won anything anyway! What a under-performing team!

I agree with you: Charlie's time is up and if the players want to leave it's a shame but it's okay.

As I said in another thread: these offensive linemen--not Charlie Weis--have been bigger, stronger and more talented than Navy, maybe Pitt and definitely UConn's respective defensive lines. But when we were inside the five yard line, and they should've been able to get three yards by falling forward, those guys got blown up. That's a matter of heart and desire. Unfortunately all the talent and coaching in the world can't put that into you; you can't coach what's in somebody's soul. Those guys all cried after the game but they were the people on the field who only put in 45 minutes of max effort over the last three weeks when what the team needed was 180 minutes of effort. (I say 180 minutes because the UConn game should not have went to over-time).

What a sad lack of discipline, drive and desire. Some of that comes from the led, but most of that comes from the Leader.
