Carlo played well. He's just pushing right up against the ceiling of his abilities. Secondary looks shellshocked.
Two things to be happy about:
1. We ran the ball well against a "big boy" defense.
2. The kids never quit........... they played hard until the end. That's a definite change from the Weis era, when they often looked like they quit in the 3rd quarter.
REESUS!
j/k............ but Tommy didn't exactly lose the game for us. He didn't play a complete game, but he did complete 57% of his passes, for 314 yards, 2 TDs, 2INTs.
Most of the times Rees got killed were not so much because of the offensive line, but because of the offensive formation. So I would question if you were watching the same game, as this was pointed out on multiple occasions by Herbstreit. The plays where Rees was getting killed were those in which Mattison was bringing 8, and we only had 7 or 6 to block. Those numbers do not jive, and leave an unblocked man to pressure Rees. You obviously were watching a different game. Rees got ****ing killed a couple of times and hung in there and made some nice passes and some ****** passes. Our D stunk. If our LB's and most of our DB's can't cover make plays then we are ****ed no matter how good our O was. Sorry, Rees is not elite but he wasn't the problem tonight.
No kidding...
"Nix looks too heavy"
Did you see the athleticism on his INT? HOLY COW is the big guy nimble!!!

I do agree that our defense played sub-par, but by no means were horrendous. I will give credit where it is due, and that goes to Gardner. Without him their offense would have stalled. We had their running game stalled for the most part, aside from the Gardner runs. HE made the plays that determined the outcome of the game. Sure there are other defenses that may be able to contain him, but for the most part HE BEAT US, we didn't beat ourselves. The team that was more efficient with their game plan won.
They could against our defense.
Teddy Bridgewater's career yards per carry is 0.3. His longest run is 24 yards and he has 4 rushing TD's. He's a pocket passer. Just because he's black doesn't mean he can run.
I think you're seriously underestimating how inaccurate of a passer Braxton Miller is. Braxton completed in the 40% in high school, and his first year at Ohio State he was 53%. Last year in Urban Meyer's offense he was 57%. That offense lets you get a ton of easy completions. Robinson completed 62% as a sophomore in that offense. Tim Tebow completed 67% in that offense as a sophomore.
Braxton Miller is a terrible passer.
Tommy misses certain passes, not just the INT's, that hurt. A couple post/fade routes into the endzone that were there and a good QB makes he couldn't connect. He's good at short throws but he doesn't have great touch on the longer ones.
I'll stand by 90% of the time comment. He took a couple of shots, but that was it. When you have a decided advantage in skill, a running game that averages 5.1 yard without any option threat or a QB that can pick up a first down with his legs, and only score 23 offensive points with the only two turnovers made by the QB, it is the QB's fault. We did suck as a defense, but Rees was the problem on offense.

Got any extra happy pills or whatever you're on?![]()
This is so obvious, I do not know how anybody could debate it.
I was just disagreeing on the offensive line portion of your comment. This would also go with your comment of ,"And how is that Rees's fault?". This also wouldn't be the offensive linemen's fault, as they were not put in a position to succeed on these offensive plays. I guess I read your comment as an offensive lineman problem, but after reading it again I guess you didn't directly state that. And how is that Rees's fault. Most of those time he check and brought in an extra blocker but he can't take everyone out of pass patterns but obviously you weren't watching the same game just listening to the announcers.
Lol no sorry, but I am just able to handle losing.
I figured the obvious
EDIT: Sneaky edit on you changing you to he, haha

If you honestly think this loss in on the QB, you have no idea what you are talking about. Do you honestly think we should have to score 50 to win?? Rees wasn't the problem. Watch the game and see scUM running up and down the field at will. How is that the QBs fault. You have to be jokin.... We get it. Tommy isn't that great, but this loss isn't on him.
Gardner happened. Name another QB who can do what he does. I'll wait.

I would state though that in those situations Tommy did what he could and brought in further protection with a running back, he just wasn't able to get the ball out quick enough and/or accurately at times. The fact that he got pressure "a few" times was the least of the problems in the game.
I will also say that the rollout with Rees has never been an efficient play, and should probably be scrapped from the playbook.
Shouldn't 3-4 DEs and NTs be just as fast as mobile, former WR QBs?
They weren't "running" it was Gallion chatching it then running up and down the field.
C'mon dude. D sucked again and all you do is rehash hate on the QB. They even showed the scUM safties playing like 25yds deep. You did watch the game, right????
