I've shown class, but I'm tired of defending a win. Why should I have to? We won and all we had was apparently one trick. I find it ironic that the week leading up to our game many on this board said that *insert Irish defense man here* would hurt/break Denard and he'd be out for the game, and who ends up getting hurt? Now it's all; 'if we had Crist it would of been different'.

I think BK will turn this program around, you've got loads of talent and he's a great coach. I also think he made the right call at the time with the half time field goal, he knew he had a great shot for a TD and didn't know how Crist would be.

I think that you are getting a bit defensive. I gave credit where credit was due and said that Michigan deserved to win. But, clearly, ND is a different team with Crist on the field. If you don't see that, then you are truly seeing through Maize-Blue colored glasses.

Most of my comments (and others I think) are not necessarily trying to take anything away from Michigan, but really meant to settle down the ND faithful after a tough loss. While one player typically does not make or break a team, Crist may just do that for ND. ND would have won with Crist on the field the whole game. But, s**t happens, and he wasn't, and we have to move on. But, it doesn't mean that we can't temper a tough loss with the knowledge that as long as Crist stays healthy, this ND team is going to be highly competitive this year (unlike recent past).

Classic match up and I hope both teams continue to do well so that this can look like a stronger match up in hindsight (in spite of my deep seeded desire for Michigan to death spiral into a dark abyss of futility). I am thankful we don't have any more QBs on the schedule that I am really worried about running wild on us. Despite 502 yards by DR, I thought our D looked much improved over last season.

Key points:
The up side for the offense was that despite essentially conceding 8 of 9 first half possessions the Irish still outgained Michigan 535 to 532.

A field goal at the end of the first half, (10-21) changes the complexion of the final drive, all things being equal, Ruffer would have won the game, if the additional demands on Michigan’s defense wouldn’t have resulted in a touchdown in 51 seconds. (I know, if wishes were horses beggars would ride – These points are crafted for that particular arrogance that one player or team dominated the game.)

Dayne Crist’s passing efficiency ranking jumped 13 spots to No. 24 nationally this week (with no Division I-AA (FCS) schools.) Two of ND's opposing QB’s rank ahead of him - Stanford's Andrew Luck (7th) and USC's Matt Barkley (12). Michigan's DenardRobinson is 50th, and Michigan State's Kirk Cousins, is No. 42. Washington's Jake Locker is 32; Oklahoma's Landry Jones is 34; Miami's Jacory Harris is 44; Cincinnati's Zach Collaros is 67; Zach Frazer at UConn is 73rd.

The Wolverines outscored the Irish 21-0 when Crist was out of the game.

Safeties Harrison Smith and Zeke Motta deserved the game ball. They had to be point on coverage playing mostly man because of Derek Roback’s transfer and Dan McCarthy’s injury. ND couldn’t even play a nickel package, because of the extra safety required in that package. Smith and Motta had to play every snap!

Again, every Michigan should be happy they walked away with a victory. BK had a much tougher job in the situation, RR had to just go with his horse and hold on. Winning percentage, and over achievement, I will take BK over RR any day. Facts: BK at ND, (.500), RR at Michigan (>.375). See? Scoreboards and stats aren’t everything.

Havent read many people posts so i may be repeating alot.

This game should have been a shoot out that ND won by 2 TD's. I felt ND outplayed them. You arent going to win many games with 3 turnovers. Mich played good too, 0 turnovers (i think). But ND was the better team, just didnt win. I dont feel anger or anything, i have that annoying feeling where you wish you could go back in time and change things but then all of the sudden I remember that the game is over.

I had no problem with the decision to not kick the FG. Had he made the conversion it would have been "wow great play call, Kelly has balls,...." But the throw was horrendous and they went into the half down 2 TD's. In the end, it ended up being a bad decision.

Crist looked good, its only his second game. Huge game coming up. Hopefully, they win.

Finally, to the Michigan fan. You guys are so great. You talk as if you have a program that has accomplished anything in the last two years. Hasn’t your overall record compared to ours. Hell, two years ago the University of Toledo came to your Big House and BEAT YOU. And their coach got fired that year. It was one of like two wins for them. It kind of sounds like you are lecturing from a position of exhausted success.

This year going through the Big Ten schedule, week after week Denard will get drilled. Chances of him surviving to Ohio State are minimal. This has been why RichRod is a good game coach and his overall record is just above .500. He has to cannibalize his defense to feed his offense. And that is because his best offensive starters get hurt. This year Michigan is a one trick pony. Watch.
