1. Tough loss. The team showed alot of heart, again, tonight, in never giving up and continuing to fight for a win.

2. Penalties, penalties, penalties..... enough said

3. The defense is continuing to prove that they are not that good, as a unit.

4. The offense is starting to show that they are maybe not as good as we thought. There is a ton of talent there, but they have not executed particularly well the last couple of weeks.

5. We beat the spread, for what that's worth.

6. I still think it is the wrong choice, but I am starting to believe that this is Charlie's last year. I'm not advocating it, so don't argue the points for keeping him. I'm on the side of keeping him. But I just don't think that 8-4, maybe even 7-5, is going to be good enough to save his job.

7. That's all I can muster. I don't recall ever being as disappointed after a loss as I am, tonight.

8. Charlie Weis is a great guy. If the administration decides to cut him loose, I hope he is wildly successful in his next position.

Penalties should be #1 here. Stupid roughing the kicker penalty by Fleming gives them 3 points early on when we should have had the ball. Wenger's chop block penalty at the end of the game was an absolute killer penalty. I am usually not all about calling people out, but that bonehead mistake (it was an easy call for the referee) ended up costing us the game. I hope he and Fleming run a lot of laps this week.

This loss has me sick to my stomach because I thought we played a decent game overall and should have been in a position to win in the end...but the mistakes cost us and it's just another loss to a ranked team.

When you get shafted like we did, after we had a CHANCE TO WIN AT THE END OF THE GAME, you don't fire your coach. He put us in a position to win. You don't fire people that do that!

He might be ....if he is hired as a offensive coordinator.

Fire Weis he SUX period.... Why is it that even Purdue beats a ranked team but ND fails every *ucking time!!!! If this team never gave up or has a lot of heart then they wouldn't lose these games. ND will be lucky if they get to 7-5...

Face it people Weis is gone Jimmy will be gone if his draft status hasn't fallen...
ND is no better than last year period. Bring on Jon Gruden or Brian Kelly.......

I wish instead of scripting the first 20 plays he would just come out in the damn hurry up offense. ND probably won every 2nd half this year. How much more evidence do you need to see before you realize that is what you are good at and roll with it?

Tired of seeing games where a guy grabs his arm and calls Duncun's number.

I disagree. They came out of the half running the ball very well, on that first drive in the 3rd quarter. That takes alot of will and toughness, when things are not exactly going your way.

You didn't watch the game, did you? Most of game was spent sputtering on both sides of the ball. Golden Tate made a great catch a move to score a TD, then made a punt return, almost by himself - the blocking wasn't all that great. If you have to give any one person credit for putting us in a position to win, its Golden Tate, NOT Charlie.

When you come out flat, play without discipline, give up big plays in critical situations, are 1-6 in november over the last two years, it is time to re-evaluate things.

If Charlie is fired its not just going to be for just this game. I think his other 24 losses might have something to do with it. 35-25 is not going to cut it.

posted in another thread but I'll reiterate it here...

You can blame it on bad calls all you want but once again this team put itself in that position by not playing 4 quarters. Defense really stepped up this week & gave the offense every chance to put points on the board in the 1st half & they failed once again to do so. By the 2nd half they were absolutely exhausted from being on the field way to much & it started to show via missed tackles & blown coverage.

You simply cannot expect to win every game playing only 1 quarter. Digging a massive hole for 3 quarters then trying to dig out in 1 is ludicrous. Granted they are good at it (prob better than anyone) but some hills are simply to big to climb. The trick is not to get there in the 1st place & Charlie Wises play calling is what puts them there.

The fumble at end didn't appear to be a fumble but I doubt if that would have mattered. Our tackles were allowing the pocket to collapse on almost every play on that last ND drive.

As for the chop block....I thought it was a good call. When the defensive player is engaged with another blocker, and he was...then you just can't go at the guy's knee.

No... I'm just sitting here thumbing myself. In addition, I just went back and created roughtly 200 posts to cover my story that I was, in fact, watching the game when I really wasn't. We had the ball at the end of the game with a chance to win. We ended up getting shafted.

We have had a chance to win in each game we have played this year. EVERY SINGLE GAME and we have a POS D. You don't fire a coach and hit the reset button when you have a chance to win EVERY. SINGLE. GAME.

Here is a question that i would honestly like responses to, I knoW CW is the head coach and the Captain should go down with the ship but all season our defense has been trying to play a scheme that we don't have the personel to play correctly so why is everyone after just CW? Our D looses every game for us, never mind the ridicioulous calls, why is there no outrage for Tenuta's job? He does NOTHING! Corwin does all of our D recruiting, and Tenuta does our crappy D calling. Tenuta needs to go, and NOW. I can understand giving someone a chance to adjust but our D is full of talent and has shown it....in spurts but he still refuses to make propper adjustments. Stop going after CW and put the blame where it belongs. Corwin needs to be our D cordinator.

To me the "fumble" call was mind blowing. I mean the ref has to see indisputable evidence to overturn it which there wasn't let alone that there was indisputable evidence that it wasn't fumble. That was possibly worse then the overturned sideline call against Armando in the Michigan game.

Tenuta is in the last year of his 2 year contract. He is gone in less than 2 months no matter what.

A couple of things you can count on with CW in charge.

1. A pretty good passing attack
2. Good screen plays.
3. Lot of penalties
4. A not-so-good defense.
5. A pretty poor record against ranked teams

Golden Tate and his God given talent put ND in that position, no one else. The only shafting that was done was the one Pitt was shoving into ND's ass all game. Rush 4 guys and drop everyone else, ND offense has been solved since BC.

officials screwed us big time.

While it was a horrible call, it shouldn't have come down to that.

The only person who gave Pitt this game was their HeadCoach. Those boys were prepared and they kicked ass and again ND got punched in the mouth.

don't forget that pitt only committed one penalty the entire game, one. in addition to that, the pass interference no calls, the personal foul no calls why jimmy was hit out of bounds, the holding no calls on pitt's olinemen. ridiculous.

oh well, to be honest, nd didn't help themselves either with some dumb penalties that were legit and called correctly (with an exception on a duncan holding call...bogus).

lastly, we didn't play four quarters. the offense blew chunks and cw's play calling left a lot to be desired for the most part.

Easy answer he is the Head Coach, not just our O.C. The HEAD COACH is incharge of the offense and defense.

It was a very questionable call...but why did it happen in the first place? The reason was because our offensive tackles were getting beat!
