My apologies to everyone..........this an abbreviated form of PGO, for me. I was unable to watch the last couple of minutes of the 3rd quarter, or any of the 4th quarter. So these observations are based only upon the first 3 quarters, basically.

1. I think last night we witnessed the "real" Charlie Weis offense. Alot of us have worried about the lack of balance in the offense, and criticized Weis for it. But, last night, Weis fielded a much different offense than we are used to seeing. They came out and pounded the ball, and kept pounding it.

2. I have made the comment, more than once, on here, that Golden Tate needs to stay and develop his game for another year. I've cited his lack of ability to go up in the air and take a ball away from a defender as evidence of this. Wow, was I wrong. His TD catch at the end of the half was an incredible example of just that: going up and taking the ball away. It makes me wonder if maybe he didn't read my words here and say, "I'll show that mfer!" I mean, Golden still needs to stay another year. So far he has not shown the ability to just take over a BCS bowl game, and help Jimmy lead the team to a decisive victory!

3. Another game with the front seven making plays at the line of scrimmage, instead of 4 or 5 yards downfield. I like what I am seeing from them, although WSU's offense is pathetic so I am not sure how much faith I have in them, just yet.

4. Was the Oline was opening some huge holes, or what? I felt great for Hughes, for him to finally have a big game. He's not a great back, but he seems to have done whatever the coaches have asked of him. Seems like a class kid, all around.

Congrats to the team. A very nice game, for the most part.

And, for the "half empty" crowd............we didn't cover the 27.5 pt. spread.

1. I was hoping he would keep it on the ground more often. On second and 5 he often went to the pass which lead to more than the expected number of lousy punts.

2. I have seen Tate go up for jump balls and often come down with the ball. HE does it differently than Floyd but he does it. He will stay if JC does. HE will not have a s good a year next year if JC leaves. Hopefully they stay together.

3. Front 7 defintely looked good. YEs the WSU is weak but they threw for 350 last weeek against Cal with 2 TD's and no ints. This kid is probabl better than a couple of the other QB's we faced. LEt's give them a little credi. Our pass rush was better, our coverage was better and we blitzed more effectively.

4. Hughes ran well but it is obvioud that Riddick would have 200 yards with the ninber of carries Hughes had. AA must have been drooling at the prospect of getting a chance to run through those holes.

5. Could have covered if they cared, put in an underachieving second team D. Good to see some other guys make some plays (Kamara/Goodman).

We cant draw much from this game. Washington State is barely a D1 team right now. They are terrible and this was a glorified scrimmage. We busted off 10 yard chunks running the ball, even running the same play 4 times in a row. It was practice. The Oline outweiged their Dline by 50 lbs per man.

Its nice to see, Im not complaining about kicking back and seeing them look like the early 90s teams at all. They were superior in every aspect sans punting. But WSUs punter gets a ton of practice.

1. Eric Olsen may be the dumbest 5th year senior ever with two incredibly stupid penalties that I thought killed drives each time. It bothers me more because they were not the ones that were a close call or ones about being aggressive. I was glad when Carlie chewed him out, he deserved it.

2. Thank God golden Tate loves ND baseball because there is no doubt in my mind he can go to the NFL in a heartbeat even at his size.

3. What happened to Shaq Evans... I haven't seen him in a while.

4. I was happy with Wise's postgame conference because he did not seem content at all with this win and really the only thing he seemed to have liked was Golden Tate's catch. He was critical of mistakes. To me it meant even with a win by a wide margin he thinks we can improve vastly, that is what I want to hear. I was worried he would be smug and content after a win by 26 points but instead he was critical and hungry.

5. Duval Kamara, who seemed to be in the dog house for a while, has been productive and steady in the past two games. He made two excellent catches (on for a TD and one on the sideline) were he recognized Jimmy was in trouble and settled down in the zone in a place he could make a reception.

6. I am still unsure about Jimmy's ability to throw the jump ball. He went for one - I think to Kamara - and the reciever was out of position, but regardless the throw was horrible if you are trying to leaving something up high for your guy to go up and get.

7. I have said "Hughes it or Lose it" all season and having used it and think we have two backs who complement each other very well.

8. Robert Blanton got an interception by blind luck.

9. MANti T'eo is a best on the Blitz. He is not getting the sacks but he draws so such attention that it let's other guys get free from their blockers.

10. We have a solid run defense, i think the last three games demonstrate that. Luckily Navy only runs, I think we can beat them by even more.

11. On the other hand our pass defense is so bad that I worry about our ability to play with BCS teams.

12. Jimmy did great on check downs today, especially with passes to Hughes who had four grabs for 51 yards.

13. Roby Toma runs routes as good as Parris and apparently has passed Walker and Evans in the depth Charts.

14. I see nothing but upside for Goodman, now I see why he is compared to The Shark.

The good thing about this game is that we also outweigh Navy's defensive line by 50 pounds per man.

WSU may be the worst college football team I've seen since the 07 Irish. I feel for those guys.

I did feel a lil bad for them toward the end of the game. The talent gap is so huge, we did not play that well and still beat them by 26

The Good:
- Showed clear sign of superiority in talent
- got the 2nd teamers in for some real PT. Romine and Nuss looked solid, John Goodman looks to be developing nicely
- Ragone hustling all the way to the end to prevent 2
- Hughes running hard each down
- Golden Tate is scary good

The Bad:
- Too many penalties
- Team really needs work on fundamentals, tackling is not an option
- Jonas Gray needs to hold onto the ball

The Ugly:
- Trevor Robinson getting hurt. He has been a stud all year and we are going to need him at Pitt and Stanford. This could be huge if he misses alot of time

- Dayne Crist: Looked nervous but showed why so many were high on him. His injury is very serious considering that Jimmy has not been 100% since week 3

is it just me or does it seem that everything that can go wrong has this year?

Agree, EJ look good early on as well. First game I would have liked to see a few more blitzes. Would like to see someone in there besides Harrison Smith at LB. Filer, Fleming, Neal, Maurice etc., also John ryan is a nice guy but I think we are beyond using him now.

Are you kidding? All in all the bounces have gone our way and weve had some mega fortunate things happen especially versus MSU, Purdue, and BC.

If you mean injury, then yes, that has been unlucky. Floyd obviously a huge loss.

Have to give some big props to Ragone for running down that safety on the blocked PAT. He could have given up but didn't, and I appreciate play like that. Props to Rudolph too for being right behind.
