This team was robbed of a glorious victory. We played the defending champions on their turf with their best inmate playing in top form and we beat them on the field. There is no moral victory. When these young men remember this game it will not be the hard work, the concentration, and resiliency they displayed, but the shock of a bogus penalty.
All this talk of “we are back” and the nation will view us differently is utter bullshit. The day we hoist the championship trophy is the day the nation will view us differently and take us seriously. Otherwise it is all noise. Yesterday, we won the game on the field only to have it snatched from us by a bogus call.
The douchebag duo of Herbstreet and Fowler made it pretty clear throughout the telecast that we were the inferior team and the game was pretty much FSU’s. Even after one half of play, they couldn’t hide their smug disdain for us. Their commentary was basically it was one half…just wait. They were expecting FSU to take control and run away with it. As it became clear that we were not going away and that we could take FSU’s best punch, they didn’t say anything insightful. On what should have been the GW touchdown, Fowler, with such relief, immediately relayed that there was a flag. Almost instantaneously, they claimed it was the right call. It had to be the right call, because it meant an FSU victory. They didn’t even consider the offensive POV. Their postgame analysis was unbearable. Contrary to what they were saying, the look in their faces betrayed again their utter disdain for Notre Dame. Fowler couldn’t help but crack his signature douchebag smirk.
Regarding the horseshit, pile of cow dung, bullshit call since the Rocket launch was shot down in the Orange bowl, here are the reason why it was utter bullshit:
1. We were killing them with crossing routes.
2. FSU DBs were determined not to give inside position to our WRs on the play.
Hence Ramsey clinch and hold of Prosise.
Hence Darby jumping inside to prevent Fuller from getting inside position.
3. Our formation posed a dilemma for the FSU DBs.
If they gave up the inside to Prosise and Fuller, the middle of the field was wide open. TD ND.
Spare me the call was “justifiable, legitimate, right call” bullshit. Holtz is wrong, like he was wrong trying to start Powlus over McDougal.
This loss is devastating. I hope these young men come back stronger. But let us not disregard the psychological impact of this loss. Like a prize fighter who experiences his first knockdown, this loss can impact this team in a similar way.
Horseshit call. That ref had action on the game. Damn.
