I can't believe how many times I have to clarify this, or you're purposely changing course. Budgeting for a new Air Force fighter or Naval vessel is not the same military spending as sending billions to a foreign country for a war that isn't ours.

My stance is that American babies of all race, ethnicity, income level, etc. should have adequate formula and medicine before we send any funds overseas for a war that doesn't involve the US. My white supremacist rant is now ended.

There was a formula shortage because the FDA had to shut down Similac factories because babies were dying from bacterial contaminated formula.

Republicans voted against a bill to provide funding for the FDA to hire more agents to speed up the inspection process that would have gotten the factories open faster.

Standards for baby formula are rightfully really high. There are only so many facilities that produce it. It’s one of the things that can’t be imported. This isn’t really a problem you can just throw money at to solve.

They should have developed plan B, one that didn't leave mothers and babies without formula and witch doctors concocting knock off recipes to compensate.

The one we buy for our baby is European based and sold at Target, but in limited quantities. Don't you find it would have been reasonable for the feds to take millions of dollars (temporarily), buy other nations'/ companies' product, and bring it to the US while Similac figured out their problem? Or do funds and equipment for Ukraine's war carry more importance?

TBH, I don’t think this is bad. We’re going to be paying for Joe’s affection for printing money and there needs to be a way to counter it.

It sounds good in theory, but it will be a non-starter with the Senate.

The real problem is that runaway spending is not even a remote concern for the majority of Americans. If it was, then I might hold out a little hope that Congress could implement some of the cuts that are necessary.

Back in the Clinton years, there was a lot of public pressure to reign things in. I see almost no pressure now. So McCarthy’s mantra is nearly meaningless.

While they haven't been announced yet, it looks like it's in the works to remove Schiff, Swalwell and Omar.

Swalwell - Since when did being able to get a security clearance on the outside matter when you're elected to Congress?

Schiff - This removal is red meat for supporters.

Omar - The anti-Semitism weak, debatable, and certainly not any "worse" than what some in the Republican caucus, but it is at least in the ballpark of reasoning Dems used to remove Republicans from committees. That said, the moment Congresswoman Jewish Space Lasers is put on a committee the reasoning for Omar's removal is a bit hollow.

Had a conversation years ago about racoon hunting with a PETA rep. I pointed out how their population had exploded and was destroying too much corn. Her suggestion was for farmers to put up fences around their fields. When I pointed out the absurdity of that and that those critters can climb fences she said they still shouldn't be hunted, but she couldn't provide a solution. I asked her if she kills flies that get in her house. "That's different!" she said. Me: Why? They're also gods creatures. No response from her.

Last year there was a formula shortage. Now children's tylenol is impossible to find in the middle of cold/ flu season. But we have no problem sending billions to Ukraine. Pathetic.

We have been having a crazy viral season and now China's demand for meds of all kinds is through the roof. Like the egg shortage caused by Avian Flu this isn't really something Biden or the Fed can touch.

In fact, our Tamiflu stockpile is being used so if there's any impact the government is helping.
