Seems like fascism resonates with a good many people on the board. Wild stuff.
Yep, nothing makes us libertarians/ conservatives more satisfied like some 21st century fascism:

1) Federal government attempting to force an experimental therapeutic on the country

2) Government and big tech working together to censor those who disagree with them

3) Indoctrination of children in public schools

4) Federal gov forcing citizens to pay for other citizens' loans they chose to take out

You're far too angry and bitter considering Dems have control of the White House, Senate, and House. You're gonna need a therapist after this midterm election.

You left off Biden's Ministry of Truth formation.

Stop conflating issues and trying to muddy the water to avoid addressing the issue under discussion. One party encourages illegal aliens to pour into the country in an attempt to shift the demographics in their favor. Every person in this discussion knows that. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Half of us point it out, while the other half does everything it can to obfuscate, spin, and avoid the reality of the situation.
You said it was legal. Let me give you an example. Imagine, if Hitler and the Nazi's had developed superior technology, and forces and successfully taken over America and implemented his Law, rules, and ethics. Would those laws be legal, fair, and ethical? Just food for thought.

Nah man not angry. Dems didn’t try to overturn an election and violently sack the Capital to stop the orderly transition of power. That’s all 100% Trump and MAGA. Never be able to live that down. Ever. Traitors.

I’m just fully aware of what a portion of population is willing to do to take over.

If Trump runs in the primary again, I think you’ll find out that portion is a small group when it’s down to him and one other candidate.

In a country of 330 million people, about two thousand people showed up to protest election results. Dozens were arrested and charged for their crimes. Trying to put a few nutjobs in the same umbrella as everyone else who voted for Trump isn't based in reality, but it sure does fit your worldview.

Thoughts and Prayers to Florida as they dabble in Socialism this weekend after another catastrophic storm hit their shores.

Rubio and DeSantis voted against aid for Hurricane Sandy when they were in Congress at the time.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday.

Me too. People threatening to bust the filibuster to do insane shit has me worried. Thank goodness for two people willing to preserve our democracy and put country over party
I've seen some binary thinkers in my time, but you are without question near the top of the list. You can justify just about anything and everything to suit your narrative.

Yeah. They really care about democracy and country. The "abortion is murder" is nothing but political bullshit when all they care about is gaining and holding onto power.

Country over party. Whatever. Power of principle sounds more like it. Nothing like a bunch of evangelicals and patriots coddling a wife beater that has kids all over the place with different women.

You'll have to be specific to which one they like.

You must be new to politics. It’s been this way on both sides of the aisle for a long time.

Yeah, I get it. Hypocrisy on both sides.

Is abortion murder or isn't it?
Of course it is. But the Republicans in the state of Georgia will hold their nose and vote for a crappy candidate, because the other option is putting in a democrat who will actively try to promote abortion.

I can guarantee that there are Dem's who are pro choice but believe that an abortion that occurs in the 9th month is murder. Will they support a candidate who is pro choice and spouting such nonsense? Of course they will, because they believe the other side is evil.

This is where we are in American Politics. It is about power, but it's more than that. Both sides have reached a point where the other side is not someone to disagree with, the person on the other side is pure evil and must be stopped at all costs. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. I have little hope at this point.

I never said anyone was evil. Unless you think binary thinking is evil.

There really isn't much subtlety left. The quiet stuff gets said out loud with little to no nuance.

The evil part was not directed at you in any way. My apologies for not making that clear. I was just speaking broadly about both sides. Both the Republicans and Democrats view each other as definitely untrustworthy snakes for sure. I would say that a lot of people would say the other side is evil.

This is why both sides of the aisle will almost always vote for their candidate. Because even if my candidate is pure trash, that's still better than evil.

As Jiggafini alluded to earlier, it's power over principle.

Lets talk about Tim Ryan. Dem candidate running for the Ohio Senator opening. From the moment he joined Congress in 2002 through 2014 he was very Pro-Life and cited his Catholic upbringing and beliefs.

In January 2015 he announced he was Pro-Choice and voila, a year later he tried to take out Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. I'm sure that was pure coincidence.

In 2022 as he's running for the Senate he now reaches a point where he believes there should be no restrictions on abortion, even up to the time of birth.

Tim Ryan, power over principle.

It’s a big character attack. We saw what the left did to Kavanaugh with fake allegations because they wanted power. Now, I’m supposed to hop on with the same people who are trying to tell me Fetterman is ok but Walker is an irredeemable sinner. I’ve always been for returning abortion to the states, fwiw.

I don't know if this speaks to your point or not. JD Vance has also flipped his stance on a lot of issues, including Trump, whose endorsement he all but begged for.

I knew the guy was kind of rotten when he wrote a book about his family where he makes himself out to be the only redeemable character in the story.

So much of it is theatre. I remember Al Franken being on one of the late night talk shows talking about how Jeff Sessions' wife knitted a blanket for one of Franken's grandchildren. It's really a lot of bullshit in the end. They're all chummy. I see it at the local level too. Our County Board is a clique at the lunch table, regardless of party. Dig your heels in and it doesn't matter what party you're in.

Citizens United fucked up everything and things weren't that great to begin with. Get the money out of elections and don't let them trade stocks.

Fetterman and Walker at least live in the states where they are running.

I know, low bar, but these days we have to take what we get.
