It's game time again and this year's game looks to be the best yet (I know, I know). Dynasty difficulty is set to Heisman all around and the sliders are custom, but very close to stock as EA seemed to finally tune the game play for themselves at last.

For this year, especially considering the addition of the coaching tree, but also to increase the player versus player match-ups, we'll all be starting our careers in the Apple Pie makes my dick har... the newly established American Conference. late additions will be able to choose from Conference USA, unless there's a drop from the American (their choice).

The draft program (Windows Executable) and C++ source code for our draft order are posted and was run by Anarin (Commissioner, XBox Dynasty).

The field will be filled first come, first serve provided you send me a PM stating your intentions to be a member of the online dynasty (basically that you're not a "fair weather" player that will be AWOL). So sign up over PM!

The dynasty will advance twice each week on Sun. and Wed., at midnight EST so players like myself in another time zone will need to make accommodations (I picked the time zone for South Bend as official). Player time zones will be added to thread later for your convenience. Advances will be prompt! Without a PM from a member stating the reason for the delay, advances will not be delayed.

We had a great run last year and I look forward to playing with all you this year!

Isn't UTSA in C-USA now?

I think I'm ready to give this a whirl. Do you have a link to the Operation Sports sliders you're going to use?

I'm all jacked up and ready for this, should be exciting with everyone starting in the same conference.

My question is about the coaching tree: will we all be creating our own coaches and starting as head coaches at level 1?

Haha, I say that all the time!

Anyway, Andy In Sactown knows I'm down for this. Let me know what I have to do once you get the draft rolling. I will say the only snag for me personally is my upcoming move (August 11-12th), but it's not a big deal. If I have to have you SIM me or something I will totally understand. Before and after that I'm all day long, all day strong.

EDIT: Can you explain the conference again? ESPN shows the American Conference as this:

Cincinnati
Connecticut
Houston
Louisville
Memphis
Rutgers
South Florida
Southern Methodist
Temple
UCF

Did you mean that if there are more than ten players the other two choose from C-USA?

Need to do more than a drive by post to join. It's all in the OP.

Fixed!

Do you have a link to the Operation Sports sliders you're going to use?

Sliders are based on Real Deal Gridiron Heisman Sliders - Operation Sports Forums. I was going to use All-American until I tested these and were pleased with the results. Don't freak out when you see 9 minute quarters. We'll be using 5.

I'm all jacked up and ready for this, should be exciting with everyone starting in the same conference.

My question is about the coaching tree: will we all be creating our own coaches and starting as head coaches at level 1?

Everyone will be starting as a new level 1 coach. Skill progression is set to normal and the ability to "clear" / "wipe" your tree at the end of the year is enabled should you choose to go another route.

EDIT: Can you explain the conference again?

Did you mean that if there are more than ten players the other two choose from C-USA?

If there are 10 or fewer players, we will all be choosing teams from the American. If there are 11-12 players (maximum) then draft orders #1-6 will choose from the American, #7-12 will choose from CUSA.

Again, this is only if 11-12 players join. In all likelihood we'll be in the American, but we shall have to see..

My observations on two games played using the Heisman setting with the sliders you mentioned. I set everything as you mentioned above, and I'm playing in my second season as the OC of the UTSA Roadrunners.

1. First off, I can actually run the ball now for more than 2 yards per carry, so yay for that!

2. These settings allow waaaaay too many sacks. Yes, UTSA's O-Line sucks but there's no way I should be allowing 7 sacks to 0-6 UAB and 6 to Tulsa. That's just crazy.

3. The receivers drop too many passes, as do the CB's and Safeties (and I mean the "looking them straight into their hands" passes). If you screw up and throw a pick, it should be a pick. My INT count wasn't too bad before...pretty realistic for where it was with a UTSA type QB I thought.

4. These settings destroyed the touch passing feel of leading or under throwing the receiver to me. My QB would wildly miss all over the place, short or long throws.

5. Minimum Speed Threshold seems far to low. I dunno, just something about it struck me as "off". But, since my O-Line could never block anyone for more than 1.5 seconds (and this is Tulsa and UAB!) we never got anyone open to really check that out.

6. Setting the OPA and the DPA to "0" seems crazy since those penalties never happen anyway! Your receiver can be prison raped down the field and there's never a flag.

7. Overall, I was playing two seasons on Heisman straight out of the box and other than the fact that my run game was horrible (yes, UTSA's line is crap and the RB's not much better), it still seemed far more realistic than these settings. When I would get sacked on these settings, we're talking three guys just pouring in and meeting at the QB! If it were up to me, I would at least TRY the out of the box Heisman settings with perhaps a little bump up to run blocking or down to run defense. The factory settings were far more fun to play...this just made for unfun games against what should have been pretty easy competition. Just my 2¢.

I view these sliders as the starting point, kind of like the stock settings as a "baseline". I've played four games today and will be tweaking them and posting here. Couple of thoughts though...

1) QB's accuracy is too low. Division 1 players don't miss receivers by 10+ yards.

2) Hands: DB's will be getting a small bump. WR more so.

3) Line play: This is going to be the main focus of my testing. This isn't one setting, but a few interacting together.

4) OVA and DPA is set to zero to exploit game mechanics. Basically testers found it allowed for more realistic WR/DB interaction. Even though it shouldn't and those penalties should be in the game! If I can find the thread I'll link it.. LOTS of sliders are using 0 for this as a result. Hope it get's fixed.

More to come... Andy!

I'll agree with this. I'm in my 5th season of a dynasty already for NCAA '14 and with both penalties sitting at max I've only seen one flag thrown in 4 full seasons, that's super low. Granted, I was an OC for 3 of those seasons so the defensive plays were simmed, but my WR's certainly have been interfered with past the 5 yard mark and no flag was ever thrown.

We may want to adjust the Clipping once the Dynasty starts too, we'll have to see how it plays out. I can tell you that I did half a season with Clipping at about 60 and I ended up with 5 penalties for it in 6 games, which is kind of high considering you don't see Clipping called that often these days. The worst part was that every Clipping call seemed to come behind a play as a WR or OL blocked a guy that was pursuing my RB/WR and the defender was well over 10 yards behind the ball carrier. They stood little chance of making the play. Just a suggestion, we'll see how it plays out.

I've got a question as it pertains to the skill/coaching experience. How many seasons did you guys complete last year? I can tell you that in 4 full seasons /w a good number of award winners and some BCS bowl wins (Running AA) my head coach is at level 31 on Normal growth. If we're looking at roughly 4-5 seasons Normal may be good unless level 31 is too low for some player's tastes (Below Saban level). The crummy part is we can't adjust this once the dynasty starts I think, I haven't found a way to do it.

What roster set will we be using? Wouldn't mind downloading them so I can check out the teams I'm interested in taking (if I have an early pick).

I like tuning the game to be more realistic, but most of the custom slider sets I've tried aren't doing a very good job from a game play point of view.

What are all of your thoughts on sliders at the moment?

Also, we have seven players in the PS3 dynasty now. Still room for some more. Figure we'll give it another day or two before kicking it off since so make people are/have been on holiday.

Posted this in the generic thread. Sliders are changing..

Here's what I'm testing now. More stock-ish:

Difficulty: All Heisman
Quarter Length: 5m
Game Speed: Fast
Speed Threshold: 20

Offsides: 62
False Start: 62
Holding: 50
Facemask: 55
OPI: 50
DPI: 62
KR/PR Int.: 50
Intentional Grounding: 55
Roughing the Passer: 50
Roughing the Kicker: 62

(User/CPU)
QB Accuracy: 40/40
Passing Block: 50/50
WR Catching: 50/50
RB Ability: 50/50
Run Blocking: 35/50
Pass Coverage: 60/60
Interceptions: 40/40
Rushing Defense: 40/55
Tackle: 40/50
FG Power: 45/45
FG Accuracy: 40/40
Punt Power: 40/40
Punt Accuracy: 40/40
Kickoff Power: 45/45

I know it's still very early in terms of when the game was released, but I'm impressed that I've seen quite a few slider sets where things are set pretty close to the median (50).

It appears that EA actually put forth some effort in terms of improving game play and the way the computer interacts with itself and the user.

Of course, there is still plenty of time for an awesome slider set to come out that has none of the settings near 50, though I believe this to be unlikely.

As I get closer and closer to some nice sliders I am getting closer and closer to stock. It's eerie, but the last little tweak was changing user/cpu pass blocking back to 50 (from gasp, 45).

Also, Catholics_Rule is in, so that makes 8. Unless we wind up with 3-4 more, it looks like we're all going to pack into the American Conference!

I'm sayin'...out of the box Heisman isn't half bad! I really do think EA actually put in some work. The only thing I don't like on stock is the run game is really hard, but it's hard to say if that's the settings or the team. Guess I need to fit in a few exhibition games with a good team to tell.

Haha draft order will be crucial if we are filling the conference... Though I guess it was anyway considering the next set of teams is CUSA (though ECU is pretty solid).

Really exited to get this kicked off, but I want to do it the right (tm) way so trying to balance getting started with getting filled.

THANK YOU ALL for your patience! I always intended to start the dynasty after 2 weeks from launch, but should have started the thread earlier (live and learn).

Trying to see if we can round out the 10 player conference. We're currently at 8 and might have one more, which puts us 1 player away.

Going to write the draft program tonight after some Ultimate Team play (DO NOT START PLAYING THIS! CRACK COCAINE IS LESS ADDICTIVE!!).

Cheers everyone!

Really trying to get up to 10. Once that's set the program will randomize the order and no one is going to get skipped.

Since we all wont be on "live" it will probably take 24 hours-ish for everyone to cycle through.

The order will be up once it starts though, so you'll have a decent idea of your likely selections.

Unrelated: Ultimate Team is like crack cocaine. Avoid it at all costs. I meant to play a game or two and maybe buy or flip some new players. Up all night. **** me.

Will we find out the order and make our team selections on here? Or will we be signing in to the dynasty one-by-one?

They are one and the same since you need to select a team to join.

Actually, we'll need to do it on here at least as far as my draft spot since I can't hit "create" until I know which team I will draft without doing unnecessary commish swaps later, but it only takes a few minutes. Sliders and membership were the biggies.
