Petros' Radio show just went national, some of you may get a chance to hear him. Despite him being USC to the core, he is actually an entertaining personality. I have mention Petros in this forum before, and one response was "that fat arse Pros Vs. Joes guy?". Some of you may see the silly, obnoxious, fat pros vs joes guy, but I see Sonny Corleone. Petros is connected. Petros father and uncle played for USC during the '60's. Petros' father/uncle are major contributors to USC, and more than that, they are family. The type of family that you never hear about, because they are the super-rich 'behind-the-scenes' type alumni(the most dangerous type). They own a restaurant, Papadakis Taverna, and you can only imagine the stuff that goes on there(that restaunrant has been named in recruiting violations). Petros is the god-son of none other then 'USC ALum network' shot-caller Mike Garrett. Being connected, he is prithy(sorry, spelling) to alot of information that 'most ppl outside of USC' dont hear. Lots of insight on USC recruiting, updates concerning players, and coaches you wont hear from anywhere else. On occasion, he will elude to some of this information and more often than not he is right on. Also, sometimes his USC alignment gets the best of him, and he spews out ND hate. So the next time you hear Petros talking college football, take a listen, I gurantee it will be interesting. I know Petros is one of the hated ones, but if you were Phillip Tattaglia, Moe Green, wouldn't you listen if Sonny Corleone was popping off at the mouth about Corleone family business?

He HATES Matt Leinart! He rips him every time he gets a chance. Something must have gone down between them. And yes, he does give a ton of insight on CF that others don't, esp of course, USC. But he also gives UCLA guys a lot of love when he interviews the. Basically, he just hates douche bags, whether they are USC alum or not.

I couldn't stand him a few years ago. Way too loud and obnoxious. But I'll admit that he's grown on me, esp after he's toned it down some. Dude's very bright, sometimes funnt as hell, and his partner (Money Smith) is fantastic. I'm a listener on my way home, that's for sure...

Petros is actually a really cool guy. He came in to a restaurant I was working at a few years ago. Came in with Anthony Davis (I can't stand AD) interestingly enough. Petros picked up the check and on a $150 check, left three bills on the table! 100% tip! Was really personable and nice too. AD was a jerk - at least that night. But Petros was the kind of guy that made friends with all the tables around him and he just seemed to have people gravitating to him. Very fun evening when he was in.

I am a so caler too... and know Petros through his work quite well... All I got to say is as if ND didn't have enough bad vibes in the media all ready... the guy makes me sick... he had the perfect show for him already with a local and allowable ultrabiased Trojan talk show... I only hope he changes his format when he goes naty... because this guy hates him some Notre Dame

sometimes?????? lol... I believe that's todays understatment winner... the times I have managed to stomach him I have not once heard a thirty minute span where he has not taken time to TRASH ND... but I guess it is slightly possible my listening has just been VERY poorly timed...

he does consistantly trash ND, and says outrageous things about ND (clausen rumors). His hate will get me very upset sometimes (example - he always likes to talk about Lou's last game Vs. USC - but he never talks about Lou's overall record vs. USC). After the USC game, he was one of the most vocal ppl saying that weis was already fired. I wanted to call in and cuss him out. The week leading up the USC game and the week after, I could not listen to his radio show because he was in a ND-hating-frenzy. The more I type I realize, yea he is an asshole, but he still does give out good insight on high school recruits, on pete carroll, and all things USC football related. For instance, BEFORE it became out in the public, Petros said why Carroll was upset with Sanchez decalring for the draft - USC will have to go to Ohio St (road game) early next year, and they wont have an experienced QB to run the offense for a big road game, lots of alumni didnt like not having an experienced QB. That is why Pete the Cheat was so upset publicly with Sanchez. it may not be a big deal now, but you hear these things from him, way before you hear it anywhere else. I certainly dont want to push him onto anyone, but despite being an asshole, he is an entertaining personality, and has good insight on college football. just turn him off when he starts in on ND.

I would say the fact that Pete is upset with DS for that shows how low Pete can be... nothing like screw your future kid, you have to be here for the big game next year... also I have heard him go into recruting a few times and each time he has brought up ND... his opinon when I have listened is ND is a has been and thats why they recruit NO ONE because what kid would be DUMB enough to go to a has been school like that (Which is totally false and way too flagrantly biased, we have recruited ALMOST step for step with SC the past three years) and SC is the greatest program ever and the fact that they do it without infractions makes them even greater (Which again is a known false, just like Bonds and steroids we all know SC and recruting will blow up at some point). He is a cartoon when it comes to his biased nature... again if he drops that attitude on his national show it can cause serious problems... if guys like May and PP can make 35 and 40 years olds think a certain way towards Notre Dame, you KNOW they can make an 18 year old recruit think that way too

if he's on sat. at all he'll be on both, as far as I know sirius and XM no longer have any exclusive channels... it's all the same now

All of those things you said are right...he is like that, he says those things. Inflamatory, outrageous, maybe-one-step-too-far, types of things. But he is USC, would expect anything else? My point is, he is he also will let you know what is going on internally at USC. He is very much an indicator of the 'pulse of USC'. Like I said half-jokingly, its family to him so when he talks USC (not ND) you hear it in his voice. You can tell what is a big deal, and what isnt with regards to USC in the emotion in his voice, its family. Think of listening to Petros as your form of espionage, you will be able to gather data concerning USC. But to get behind enemy lines, you have to get thru the ND trashing.

Mike Garrett is the Atheltic Director at USC. Godfather of Petros. I have a god son, my god son is family. I'm thinking there are scenarios when petros is talking with his father, uncle, and godfather about what else? USC. What alumni is thinking...what is going on with recruiting....what is going on with coach/player personnel..all sorts of Mike Garrett/Influencial Alumni level stuff. Now Petros goes on the radio with this USC info, filtered thru Mike Garrett (who knows what is going on with alumni, and just about all things USC) and his father ($big time$ alumni with lots of influence). I believe this is a great source of information for Petros, with addition to his own sources. Some of what his says is bogus (maybe on purpose) but some of it is right-on, and you wont hear it on NBC, CNN, or ESPN.

As for young recruits...i dont think he would make a signifigant difference in recruiting. Anymore than he already does, he is very active in west coast recruiting. He calls games for Fox Sports West during the high school football season and gets to go all over the state and watch the best talent first-hand. From Concord De La Salle to Long Beach Poly. Plus he does Pac-10 games for FSW too, all over the West Coast.

I'm telling you, we need to keep an eye, or ear on that guy....

Even if it wasn't for his USC connections, I just can't stand the guy's voice lol. I have never heard his radio show. But I have heard him as the color guy plenty of times on FSN. He is definitely USC biased, its especially noticeable when he is working the SC games. He maybe should be doing the SC radio broadcast but this guy is not good as a neutral commentator.

I have refused to listen to the shown on 610 for a long LONG time because of this guy, yet today I am driving home (about an hour ago) and am just tired of the FM channels so I flip it on... in AN INSTANT the guy goes from talking Laker Baskteball (which is bad enough) to stating that "nearly every single innovation that football has had, both in college AND at the pro level, in the last 25 to 30 years has come out of the Pac 10..." Then this guys goes on to imply this is a big reason USC is so dominate, they set the X and O standard that everyone else follows... by playing good defense... wow what an innovation, never would have thought of that one...

WTF!?!?!?


Let's just go off the top of my head, here's some of the big ones over the last 25-30

1.) West Coast Offense?? Sure, although the WC is just a quick in filled, shorter version of Air Coreal, and even so the WC came from Stanford first if not mistaken

2.) 4-6 D?? Nope

3.) reinvention of the 3-4?? Hell no

4.) Run and Shoot?? No

5.) The Spread?? No

5.) No Hundle?? No not to my knowledge

6.) 4-2-4... maybe I have no clue, so possibly here



This guy is Mark May with a entitled pompus attitude to boot... it took me all of 1 minute and I had to turn back to the FM...

he is the pulse of USC. - listen to him, get past all of the mucky-muck and you will hear the same things that Mike Garrett hears. Petros will also echo things that Mike GArrett says. You will be able to discern what is important to the USC brass, by listening to him.

Sonny Corleone.....popping off about the Don Vito's business in public. You have to listen.

Another tidbit, Sonny, I mean Petros announced on air was that Aaron Corp was the starter, he did this over a month ago when USC had the QB's in spring practice. 3 weeks later, it comes out in the press (and on this board) that Aaron Corp was the starter. You hear things from him all the time before you hear it anywhere else.

I'm not trying to twist your arm so you will listen to him, but if your into espionage you'll listen. Plus the guy he does his show with, Matt 'Money' Smith is a pretty cool dude to listen to.
