Just a head's up after last week. Let's keep it in perspective guys, last week we were the worst team in history according to some here... now some of those same peps will prob. have us going 11-1...

we are a fairly good 3-1 with a great schedule for a young team...

keep the growth going win or lose... period... it's a good day, enjoy it, but let's not get crazy

I think I was most impressed by the way we started the second half, today. I'm not sure if it was the coaching adjustments, the will of the players, or what. But, whatever it was, it was worthy of the ND tradition. Even the defense played decent, in the second half. Purdue finished with over 450 yards of offense, but a win is a win.

Purdue puts up a lot of yards on a lot of teams, win or lose... with them I could care how many yards they get personally

I have a feeling that the offence turned a corner today. They still have a little way to go but I think thinks are starting to move forward.

The offense looked really sharp today! Let's give it up for the offensive line. Those guys were really making some holes today. I figured Hughes would be the primary back, but AA really showed why everyone was so high on him today. He was really racking up the yards afer contact. Awesome game overall.

There's no doubt that the offense is on the right track. When you think about how ridiculously young our boys are at the skill positions - and with how well they're performing - you can't help but get jacked up for the future.

how young the TEAM is... Bruton, Crum and some of the Offensive line... that's it for key upperclassmen right???

Really nice

Really nice

Really nice to see the ground game get going and the D get some pressure on the QB. You can't say enough about Floyd. Rudolph is going to be key too. Not sure what to say about the kicking. I feel bad for that guy though. That's such a mental position. They are going to need a kicking game. A lot of big teams losing this week.

This may have been discussed before and it's no big deal, but I don't notice a lot of praying after TDs anymore. I may just be missing it. Again, no big deal, just curious about it.

That 41 yarder that meant nothing to the outcome of this game means something to this kicker. It was the first bright spot for him for the whole season thusfar. I hope we can put him in some situations similar to this in the next few games to bring his confidence back up. I'm not sure if he can recover fully, but until that FG, he had to have zero confidence in himself. If he "won" the job in practice so convincingly, it seems that the pressure of gametime is getting to him. Hope it changes soon.

I too, liked the decision to let B-Walk kick the 41-yarder. Granted, I probably would have cursed the television if he missed it, but it seemed like a 'relatively' safe scenario for CW to show confidence in him. Hopefully it gets him some confidence in the 35-45 range, we WILL need him before the end of October.

Also, my two cents on rankings...we will not be ranked until we beat UNC, presuming we can win out until then. Maybe a 24 or 25 spot after the Washington game, but I don't think we get any props until then, and probably rightfully so.

I am now certainly a Navy, Michigan, and MSU fan for the forseeable future, we need to have some hope to get into that top-12!!!

A lot of positives in this game...glad to see the OL come out in the 2nd have with some heart and attitude. Defense is still shaky and will remain that way until we can develope a dominate NG. In a 3-4 the NG position is the foundation...without it everything else does not work!!!

Good point A Camp! Lets hope Charlie keeps the boys focused. Stanford will not be a pushover by any means. Keep the improvement going. I would have to say that the O-line and the Kicker have got to feel a lot better about themselves after today. A much needed boost in confidence.

definite kudos to the OL today. the team played hard and were tougher than i have seen them in a few years.

i am more scared about navy now than i have been and i have been worried about that game. they won again beating wake forest who was supposed to be one of the top teams in the ACC. UNC also still scares me quite a bit, they are far better than i thought they would be coming into the season. if the team keeps improving week to week, or half to half as it was today things will be good.

that first half today was nothing to write home about. they could have gone down 14-0 and that would have been a tough hole to climb out of. we were lucky to get in at halftime tied.

it was almost like a new attitude when the team came out for the second half. i watched jimmy throw 3 incompletions to start the game and i ALWAYS want ND to come out and try to shove it down their throats so it was a little disheartening to watch that happen in the beginning of the game. however the second half that was exactly what happened they ran the ball and ran the ball right down the field. showing dominance.

still looking for that dominant offense..

24 points in the 2nd half (actually 1 quarter and a half since we sat on the ball for much of the 4th) wasn't dominant enough?

For all those questioning Jimmy's arm strength and pro potential, even though he's only a true sophomore, I give you exhibit A...

i was happy to see some of our yound defensive guys stepping up. ethan johnson was in the backfield quite a bit and the announcers even gave him props about coming off the knee injury. slaughter stepped up huge. i wonder if he was "chirping" all day like weis says he does in practice? either way i am very happy happy about todays game. came out flat but whatever happened during halftime showed this team has heart and confidence and that our future looks really bright.

I agree; see my post above about the need to not be too optimistic. Other than the final score, Central Michigan actually had better stats vs Purdue than we did, AT PURDUE.*

*Please don't make the standard response about the final score is all that matters, etc. I am just making a simple point.

Not to mention the fact that they looked more like the 2007 Irish, in the first half. I was happy to see the veritable offensive explosion in the second half, but if they come out flat against Stanford, then it is all for naught. This team is not playing like a complete team, just yet. But hey, let's enjoy it while we can.

having grimes back in the mix really helped. i am bothered by the play of duval though. i know he has a serious confidence situation right now and hope he can find a way out of the hole he's in b/c he has talent. it's a shame they didn't rule that catch a TD b/c i believe his left foot tapped first. the ball off his chest over the middle was tough to watch as well. i realize he was diving but still that ball ate him up. stovall had similar confidence issues until charlie woke up the echoes. hopefully someone gets to him and he can turn it around b/c a sharp kamara will only elevate this offense.

eff navy. i think we run up 40+ pts on them and there's no way they outscore us. i am not concerned about the middies this year. the 3 losses i predicted for this team this year were Michigan State, UNC and USC. so far i am right on track. my hope is that we are gellin big time by the UNC game and we roll them up in their own backyard. that will certainly be a game where pressure on the QB will be paramount. like us, they have some stud WR's.

I just don't understand the point of making those comparisons. Why compare two different teams in two different games to determine a team's worth. We handled a Michigan team that just went out and handled a top 10 Wisconsin team after spotting them a 19 point lead. By your reasonings, wouldn't that make us look better just as your stats make us out to be that much worse? How can you adequately compare the two. Because Central Michigan had a better statistical game, we should feel worse about a win? I just don't understand that logic. Why do we only see the negative comparisons?

We beat SDSU - yeah, but they lost to Cal Poly.
We beat Michigan - yeah, well they are rebuilding and they barely beat Miami of Ohio
We beat Purdue - yeah well Central Michigan put up better numbers

I am so sick of hearing this crap after we freakin' win! I understand not wanting to get ahead of ourselves and what not, but why post about how bad you think this team is? WE ARE 3-1 FOR CRISSAKES!!!

As Coach Norman Dale said: "I would hope you would support who we are, not who we are not."

sick of the feeling out process that takes place at the beginning of every game. one of these week's my hope is that we take our first drive and stuff it into the endzone and continue the roll from there. i hate being on the edge of my seat for 1.5 quarters every week. throw the ball to our boys and then hand to allen after we loosen things up. the 2nd half was fun to watch.

if you told me we'd be 3-1 to start this season i'd take it all day long. the 2nd half was fun and i hope we ride that wave right into the start of the stanford game.

I think they will. You can see the confidence starting to build and they are starting to loosen up. I would also like to see them take the first drive and put it in the end zone. Give the D a lead to work with. The three and out to start the game is getting a little old. But we are 3-1 and every win from here on out will start to mark the improvement and put last year further and further behind us.

man, tate and floyd are really settling in. the confidence is overflowing from those 2 guys. it was also obvious JC worked on getting rudolph involved. that will only help this team. couldn't ask for a better 2nd half from the boys. everyone was clicking now if duval gets back in a good frame of mind look out.

ask anybody....any real racer.....they'll tell you it doesnt matter whether you win by an inch or by a mile hahaha sorry guys, couldnt help the fast and furious comment

i think the boys shook off the timidness the 2nd half and just took it to 'em...they need to take that attitude from the first whistle, imagine Sam Young/Chris Stewart saying 'we're running dogies into the endzone and the trail runs right over your ass!' (The Program)
