BlueandGold.com // Overcoming Inexperience

A Freebie that covers the DLine, Crist, and Goodman.

Coach Hart:
We can’t buy experience. We can’t practice experience. You’re going to get experience by being out there playing the game. We aren’t going to worry about it. ...

If you’re going to make a mistake, make it a big one, make it an effort one. Put the pedal down, and get the job done, and work as hard as we can, and things will fall into place.

QB Coach Powlus on Crist:
As a freshman trying to learn it, you’re thrilled when you threw to the right guy, and you are ready for the next play,” Powlus said. “At this point, he’s getting to the point of chasing the ball down the field to congratulate somebody. He noticed the left tackle’s block. He noticed the fullback’s block. He’s letting his personality shine a little bit more. We feel really good with the way he’s learned the offense and the position he has put himself in. It’s good to see his personality come out.

John Goodman:
Last year at this time, I was still trying to figure out plays. I had no idea what was going on. I was getting yelled at a lot. Not doing the right things, just not looking like a veteran at all.
