Vegas has the Irish's over/under at 7.5

Lee Corse (may I remind you that he is an idiot) has the Irish with 6 wins at most if we have "great coaching"

Kirk Herbstreit has the Irish at 7 wins because he believes our away schedule is too difficult.

What do you think?

8 and a second tier bowl win would make me extremely happy, get that bowl monkey off of our backs.

I really do not see us losing to Penn St. They are TERRIBLE. We destroyed them last year. We will beat GT on coaching alone. Call me the optomist but I also see us beating Michigan in a revenge game. UCLA is overrated and will be exposed by the time we play them. USC is just nasty and they are going to be tough. I am more worried about Boston College and Michigan St, they are always a thorn in our sides. I really cannot see us winning less than 8 games.

i think another thing ND has going for them is the fact that there are no standards right now, last year there was so much pressure with htat top 5 ranking that it alsmot seemed like we beat ourselves more than the other teams did. Two years ago we came in as nobodies and shocked a lot of teams (thanks to weis of course), maybe this year nobody will know what to expect from us and weis will have a few tricks up his sleeve.

Penn State finished 9-4 and beat Tennessee in their bowl game last year. Hardly "terrible" They got their butts kicked here, but overall had a good season. I wouldn't consider that game a "gimme". That said, I am thinking (and hoping) 8 wins. (at least)

Last time i check, for the exception of Poz, the entire team is coming back for Penn State. Some predicted them to be the sleeper team for this year. They are also looking to get revenge for us kicking their a** last season....it's definately not a "gimme game"

I'll take the over. I think ND could very well get 8 or maybe even 9 wins during the regular season. Then possibly another if they get a favorable bowl draw.

the only problem with the bowls is, if ND does really well, well enough to be in contention for a BCS game (top 12 in bcs rankings i believe), we will almost always go to a BCS bowl. This has been a problem in the past years because ND will bring in much more revenue for the game than any other school in the nation, so we may not be the best team for hte bowl game, but we get thrown in there anyway. This leads to Notre Dame playing extremely good teams. (Notre Dame was a good team last year, but people were saying LSU was the "best" team in the nation.)

They also need to win 10 games, which is something that will be very hard for ND to achieve this year. I think ND will most likely end up in something like the Gator or Cotton Bowl, or if they are a little worse than my prediction then possibly something like the Sun Bowl.

That was last year and ND lost some key players to say the least, and PSU has a lot of guys coming back. To boot its a home game for PSU who will definately be looking for some revenge. But with that said this is the game I'm looking forward to the most since I live in Pa.

Give me seven wins and I'm happy, give me eight and I'll be beyond happy.

Speaking of LSU, they have most of their starters coming back as well. I can see them going all the way

They didnt lose a lot, but what they lost were really good players. Jamarcus Russell (maybe a bit overrated but he was a huge piece of that team), WR's Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis, S LaRon Landry, (all of those four were first rounders), and DE Chase Pittman. The backup last year (should be this years starter), Ryan Perrilloux, was suspended in March for trying to pass as a 21 year old when he was only twenty. We'll see how they turn out, their schedule isnt easy, it isnt the toughest, but it is the SEC. I'll hold my predictions until i see how they play in the beginning of the year.

they dont have that tough of a schedule. they have UF, auburn, arkansas, and virginia tech at home. their only "tough" game is at Alabama.

I didnt realize they had all of those games at home... jeez. Maybe that national powerhouse Middle Tennessee State University can give them a run for their money haha. Well then look for them to do well i guess, i still see them losing a game or two somewhere. VaTech wont be an easy game for sure, Alabama would be tough, and they might have to player some powerhouse in a neutral site in the SEC Championship game...

LSUs Dfense is going to be amazing but their offense wont be able to score

Sounds like the opposite of michigan, well in my own opinion. Offense is going to be amazing even though i hate chad henne, but i think their defense will will be lackluster.

back to ND football...if we have some good games we could actually go 10-2. dont ya think?

One more note on LSU, their senior RB just quit the football team, his heart wasnt in it apparently. About a 10-2 season... hmm... i would say its not that far fetched. I would go with a loss to USC and a close loss to UM. we would have to play lights out to beat both of them. Although @PSU and @UCLA will be tough games, i think we can pull them off. One thing that might make me nervous are hte games with MSU and BC, both at home, they always seem to be a thorn in our sides. I could see a record anywhere between 6-6 (if all goes wrong!), to 11-1, something will happen in there. My prediction is 8 wins, second tier bowl win.

I say over, although I'm divided on whether we lose to GT or Penn State. If we beat tech I think PSU could be a letdown game for us, plus they will be gunning for us. If we lose to GT it will be like popping a bubble, some of the stress will be off, and we could go into PSU loose and well prepared.

I have to say I am pretty proud of him.

He is dropping football but staying to get his degree.

That's a kid who did not lose sight of what's important and why he went to school.

He's from LSU and he did this? This must be a first.
