"I wouldn't say I made a verbal commitment," he said. "A lot of other people are saying that, but I didn't."
Williams, a 6-foot-4, 291-pound guard from New Bern, N.C., made his official visit to NC State this weekend, and came away impressed, but he denied making a verbal commitment to the school.
That means his official visit to Notre Dame, scheduled for Jan. 21, will still take place.
In preparation for that visit, Notre Dame's offensive coordinator, Mike Haywood, made an in-home visit today with Julian and his family.
"He talked to my parents about the school and the academics," Williams said. "He was a pretty straight-forward guy. I'm just looking forward to my visit so I can see what it's like."
Williams just recently began being recruited by Notre Dame, when former South Carolina assistant coach, Jappy Oliver, joined the Irish staff. Oliver had been recruiting Williams to South Carolina.
