I know this sounds sick, but I am actually starting to worry that when the CW led D kicks a@#, and as scUM keeps losing games and recruits, that Carr is gone and we lose CW to his alma mater.

Please someone tell me I'm totally nuts.

I've always suspected that Harbaugh (Stanford) was grooming himself as heir apparent to Carr. His head coaching experience makes him a stronger candidate than either CB or English.

At any rate he needs a couple of years under his belt I would assume. This is his first DC job so other schools will be watching and waiting. That being said he will do fine. In 08-09 I would start to worry because by then we are really going to be smacking people around...

Not after Harbaugh had this to say about Michigan.

“College football needs Stanford,” he said during an interview in his office. “We’re looking not for student athletes but scholar-athletes. No other school can carry this banner. The Ivy League schools don’t have enough weight [because of their low athletic level]. Other schools which have good academic reputations have ways to get borderline athletes in and keep them in.”

Harbaugh includes his alma mater, Michigan, in that indictment.

“Michigan is a good school and I got a good education there,” he said, “but the athletic department has ways to get borderline guys in and, when they’re in, they steer them to courses in sports communications. They’re adulated when they’re playing, but when they get out, the people who adulated them won’t hire them
.”

Man he's ticked. Who pee'd in his Kool-Aid?

He does have a good point about schools who put academics as a premium over athletics and the need for those schools to win.

Can't really talk as the UConn Husky b-ball team has been my squad since 88. After the Marcus Williams situation I can say that academics isn't top priority in that program.

IUB - - - again, you're one step ahead of me, but I'm not convinced that Harbaugh's statement is tantamount to burning his bridges with scUM. Should a head coach vacancy pop up in Ann Arbor, I'm willing to bet you'd find his resume in the pile, and maybe even the AD's short list.

I would welcome that scenario because it means that we get to have a good defense for a couple of years. CB has proven to be a good recruiter, but he hasn't shown anything on the field, yet. Let's see the defense hold Michigan, MSU & USC to under 40 before we get too excited.

Even Mike Frank thinks Corwin Brown is great. Link to free Scout story.

In four years, after CB and CW win their second NC together, CB will replace CW when he goes to the pros. No problem.

I don't know. I truly think that Charlie will be @ ND for quite some time; possibly until he's ready to hang it up. I hope so anyway. Not only because of his great coaching skillset and his ability to lure in very good talent (players and coaches), but also because of his professed love for what Notre Dame is all about. Those are the coaches that you want to have around forever.

ND will be replacing Corwin Brown before Charlie Weis. Brown will be a head coach in a few years. If not in a couple. But if that's the case, the ND DC position will be an attractive stepping stone position and finding quality guys to fill it shouldn't be too hard.
