Alright,I don't know the answer to this question, kinda hoping someone else will.

In the movie 'Die Hard', Sergeant Al Powell investigates a disturbance at the Nakatomi Tower. As he is talking to a "guard" in the lobby, in the background you can hear a ND-USC football game in which the Irish are winning...the "guard" complains because he had $50 on the condoms.

Does anyone know which game this was?

Sorry, but straight from Wikipedia:

The security guard in the movie Die Hard is watching a football game between Notre Dame and USC. The movie, however, took place on Christmas Eve, a day the two teams have never met.

It'd make for an epic matchup though...

It should also be noted the year the movie is set in was during ND's run of dominance over USC - winning from 1983 through 1988 (and then several years beyond)

You are correct on the matchup having never played on Christmas Eve...however,I think they took a recording from a ND-USC matchup and placed it on there....if you listen to it in the movie it sounds like a legit game.

If it was a legit game the it would be listed in Die Hard's credits as it would be copyrighted material.

You know the fake guard was a villain, he was rooting for USC. John McClain, Irish Catholic East Coast cop, would have shown him the error of his ways. With bullets.

there is a nd game mentioned in Back to the Future 2, as well.

when biff from the future takes the book back to biff in 1955. they listen to scores on the radio. also, not historically accurate.

Notre Dame is also mentioned in several other movies if I am not mistaken. I pretty sure..."The Break-up", "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", Departed"...

Notre Dame is also the alma mater of the President of the United States in the classic show "The West Wing"
