notre dame/michigan?

what if it was the 5 turnovers and element of suprise from michigan's defense had everything to do with the loss?
what if the emotional win over penn state had anything to do with the loss?

anyone game for the chance of a rematch?
they do have that offense and maybe their defense is for real.

historically a lot of rematches tend to go the other way too.After tonights lose it might be kinda hard to convince alot of michigan players they could lose and we could make a game out of it real quick.

I always thought we'd have a shot against Mich... not to take away anything they did, they deserved a ton of credit, but you could make a very real case that two plays, both rather flukey, accounted for a 21 point swing in that game...

I said I wanted this matchup. But that was before today. Right now, I'd rather we play a goddamn Canadian school.

funny,but there is not going to be too much of a choice.Unless the coaches knock notre dame back to 15th or so(which is highly unlikely),it's the bcs.

well I would rather play the big boys in regards to the BCS... playing a Rutgers or Bosie is a no win situation... won't convince anyone of anything and has pleanty of punchline potential and what if we lose???

Bring on Mich or UF

you know it wasn't long ago that notre dame wouldn't play anyone in a bowl unless they thought a win would improve their ranking.

How about if Louisville can get into a BCS game, don't know what has to happen next week for this to happen I know they need help, but man that would be a good matchup. Neither team plays D and the final would be like 49- 45 or something. Great entertainment value with that one.

Not sure if a big east rep would be big enough up front on either side of the ball to hang with us... but they did give the U a pounding so you never know

1. The top two teams in the final BCS Standings will be placed in the National Championship Game ("NCG").
2. Unless they qualify to play in the NCG, the champions of selected conferences are contractually committed to host selected games:

Atlantic Coast Conference-Orange Bowl
Big Ten Conference-Rose Bowl
Big 12 Conference-Fiesta Bowl
Pac-10 Conference-Rose Bowl
Southeastern Conference-Sugar Bowl
3. If a bowl loses a host team to the NCG, then such bowl shall select a replacement team from among the automatic-qualifying teams and the at-large teams before any other selections are made. If two bowls lose host teams to the NCG, each bowl will get a replacement pick before any other selections are made. In such case, the bowl losing the No. 1 team gets the first replacement pick, and the bowl losing the No. 2 team gets the second replacement pick. If the Rose Bowl loses both the Big Ten and Pac-10 champions to the NCG, it will receive two replacement picks.
A bowl choosing a replacement team may not select any of the following:
A. A team in the NCG;
B. The host team for another BCS Bowl;
C. When two bowls lose host teams, then the bowl losing the number one team may not select a replacement team from the same Conference as the number two team, unless the bowl losing the number two team consents.

4. Any bowl with an unfilled slot shall select a team from the automatic qualifiers and/or at-large teams in the following order:

A. The bowl played on the date nearest to the National Championship Game in will pick first-in 2007, Sugar Bowl January 3;
B. The bowl played on the date second-nearest to the National Championship Game will pick second-in 2007, Orange Bowl January 2;
C. The bowl hosting the game that is played in the time slot immediately after the Rose Bowl game will pick third-in 2007, Fiesta Bowl.
The rotation noted in paragraphs A, B and C will be as follows:
January 2007 games: Sugar, Orange, Fiesta
January 2008 games: Orange, Fiesta, Sugar
January 2009 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange
January 2010 games: Orange, Fiesta, Sugar
All teams earning automatic berths must be selected. No more than two teams from any single Conference may play in BCS games in a single year, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large picks.
5. After completion of the selection process as described in Paragraph Nos. 1-4, the Conferences and Notre Dame may, but are not required to, adjust the pairings taking into consideration the following:
A. whether the same team will be playing in the same bowl game for two consecutive years;
B. whether two teams that played against one another in the regular season will be paired against one another in a bowl game;
C. whether the same two teams will play against each other in a bowl game for two consecutive years; and
D. whether alternative pairings may have greater or lesser appeal to college football fans as measured by expected ticket sales for the bowls and by expected television interest, and the consequent financial impact on Fox and the bowls.
So, assuming that SC goes to the championship game with OSU. Rose gets two picks, then sugar, orange, and fiesta. Michigan will probably go to the Rose. That means ND will probably have the option of playing:
Rose - Michigan
Sugar - Florida/Arkansas
Orange - GTech/Wake Forest
Fiesta - Nebraska/Oklahoma (not sure who's playing in the Big 12 championship game. is this right?)

Anyway, the selection "guidelines" advise against rematches of regular season games. So I kinda doubt that the Rose would take ND, especially after ND's showings against Michigan and SC in the regular season. I can only hope that Arkansas wins the SEC title game or ND falls past the Sugar. I don't want to play Florida. Percy Harvin scares me. : )

I'd like to play Wake Forest, personally. Or Nebraska. But ND will probably be picked for the Sugar.

No hope for Boise "We've got a lock" St?

I think i even mentioned arkansas somewhere today,but after watching what mcfadden and jones did to the #1 defense in the country friday i'm not too sure we could force them to pass.lsu allowed both of them to rush for over 100 and they hadn't allowed one to do that all year.
never know...

Honestly of all the prospective bowl teams out there the only ones that don't scare me are Nebraska,UF or Rutgers. everyone else we could possibly play has weapons that could hurt us. I omitted Boise St because honestly I haven't seen them play and don't want to venture a guess how we might do against them.

I'm up for playing the highest ranked opponent that beating would move us up the most in the final poll. That's why ND decided to back to playing in bowls.

Rose - Michigan
Sugar - Florida/Arkansas

Don't forget to throw LSU in that mix for the Sugar. If Arkansas loses, they will be out of the BCS picture. Florida would play as an at-large in the Rose, I'm assuming, and LSU would go Sugar.

McFadden is SCARY good....but to me, it's not gonna matter who we play if we can't consistently pressure the QB.

Unless UF gets slotted against OSU in the title game they have to play in the Sugar, SEC conference champ always plays in the Sugar Bowl thats their tie in game. If LSU gets a BCS birth then there is a chance that we don't get invited to one of the BCS games. Of the 10 available BCS spots a minimum of 7 are already locked up...going to be a lot of teams up for 3 spots I think. And if Arkansas wins the SEC then UF probably gets another spot for the SEC so that means 8 spots taken next weeks games mean a lot as far as where we go.

2 big 10 teams
1 pac 10 team
2 sec teams
1 acc team
1 big east team
1 big 12 team

total of 8 teams with 2 spots remaining between
notre dame
boise
possibly rutgers or louisville or even west virginia,but saturday,either west virginia or rutgers will be out of the top14
maybe virginia tech can squeeze in there
if nebraska beats oklahoma then the sooners fall out of the top 14

i guess for those who want notre dame to go to a bcs bowl,be thankful that wisconsin,auburn,and the 1 other team in the sec that is gonna loose out becasue of a conference max on the bcs.

I'm not about to apologize for it, I'll tell ya that. As long as the conferences get guaranteed spots, ND has no reason to feel sorry for the deal they made.

I would be SHOCKED if ND doesn't get a BCS bowl game. Of the two remaining spots mentioned above it will be Boise St. and ND. Only one Big East team gets in ... Louisville or Rutgers. My guess that it's either the Orange or Sugar. We'll know ceretainly after next weekend.
