it would be disruptive because of the newly announced staff...but its win now or go home.
If he got Chow and it failed, it would be counter-productive.
If he got Chow and it was successful, it would be strategic, shrewed.
I understand "win now or go home". Kelly's convinced that the blueprint that got him here is how he will win now.
Did you catch Kelly's PC today? He made it very clear that HIS 3 key people are the DC, OC, and Strength Coach and they had to fit HIS system. These are HIS core coaches. Norm Chow is Norm Chow's core coach.
Kelly specifically addressed that his coaches will be TEAM players. He does NOT want specialists. Had Kelly called Chow for an interview it would have been counterproductive to Kelly's staff culture. Kelly said he told people in a meeting that ND is behind everybody else as ND didn't have the benefit of bowl practices, he stressed, we have to hit the ground running. Kelly's not interested in redoing the play book to blend another coaches approach. Kelly rolled the dice and they're HIS dice not some other OC regardless of how successful he's been.
