Yeah I was thinking that myself. Kind of messed up if they didn't tell recruits.

Think Leinart would of returned if he knew Chow was out.

Leinart will probably still have a good year because he knows the system, but the future QB"s there could struggle.

definetely, what was the name of the #1 rated QB in the country? Didnt he sign with USC? I think Chow leaving would have affected his decision.

We will have to see who replaces him and see if they are alike in philosophy.

Mark Sancez is the QB they recruited. Sure he's pretty pissed about it, if true.

well, this was mentioned yesterday...

The Titans coach has said he is looking at a variety of candidates to replace Mike Heimerdinger as his offensive coordinator. Southern California's Norm Chow has been mentioned as a potential successor, and Fisher, a USC-alumnus, has said he will consider college coaches.

Ok. We all suspected, but now I'm convinced. USC will play the Irish next year without the direction of Norm Chow.

"According to the Los Angeles Times, Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher is expected to speak with USC offensive coordinator Norm Chow as soon as Thursday and possibly meet with him in Nashville this weekend. Chow is regarded as a leading candidate to replace offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger, who left for the same position with the New York Jets."

Wow...talk about screwing your recruits...not to mention a heisman winning QB....

Man i bet Leinart would be in the draft right now and USC would be scrambling to try to keep their luring recruits had Chow done this a month earlier. Man thats shady.

This is turning into a real Soap Opera. Carroll seems to have a big ego, and doesn't like the attention Chow gets. Carroll should stop denying its BYU's offense there running at USC. We all know it is.

USC still has loads of talent on there offense, but if they bring in the wrong OC it will be wasted.

ND has had alot of talent on offense as well over the years, but with poor coaching we saw what happened. I still cringe when I see guys like Givens, and Julius Jones lighting it up in the NFL.

Thats why i am arguing with Lyght about the Ty firing - since he and davie really were screwing up our Ofense why wait another 2 seasons to fire him - do it asap and get things going! I am glad we did it though!

First of all, what does Willingham or Davie have to do with Carroll or Chow?

Second, it was a good move by Chow to keep his potential move quiet. Not the most honest, but college football is a business first & foremost. If he is gone, it was a final act of loyalty to both the school and to his head coach to keep it under wraps until after Signing Day. As for Tennessee, I guess it's a step up...but he could have done a lot better, IMO if he had stayed one more year at USC and taken a head coaching job in college or if he had applied for the San Francisco job this year.

There was no loyalty, Carroll wouldn't allow the Titans to interview Chow until after signing day. Carroll was demoting Chow to assistant head coach, now I know that may sound like a promotion but its not, Chow would not be calling the offensive plays during games, it's a way for Carroll to drive Chow out.

As for Ty, no offense I know you like the guy and all but Ty didn't even make an attempt at Chow, when there was a real goood chance he may of gotten him.

"If Chow wanted to stay in college football and spurn the NFL, one possible option is Washington, which needs an offensive coordinator. But Huskies coach Tyrone Willingham said this week Chow is not a candidate and is expected to hire former San Francisco 49ers assistant Tim Lappano."

Just imagine Chow would of really been released, no coach gives more leeway to his assistants (and he even admits it) then Ty.

Chow would be running the offense 100 percent in Washington. Ty coulda looked like a genius.

That would have been great for UW...but really, who leaves just to make a lateral career change? I thought Stanford would have been the only other Pac-10 job he would've taken. All things considered, Lappano's a nice pick-up. As for Chow, I still think he could have done better than the Titans.

Lyght my point is this - he basically lied to his recruits - they thought they were coming to get trained by Chow but now chow is leaving AFTER they sign LOIs and cant back out. That is dishonest no ways out of this one. You're basically selling a product you dont have.

Let's also remember, guys, that Jeff Fisher is a USC alum and he was looking out for the 'best interests' of the program as well!

I've read where Chow wants a NFL assistant's job so he can increase his stock in being a college head coach.

He has been quoted as saying the time he has left to become a head coach is diminishing. It does sound like running the show someday interests him. My question is, why has he been content to stay an offensive coordinator for so long?

According to NBCSports.com Chow has recieved an offer from the Titans and is about to accept. I read in a Titan Forum that Chow already has accepted but that it is unofficial.

It's official. The great and powerful Wizard of OZ will be exposed for the fraud that he is!!

ESPN.com news services
Norm Chow has decided to leave USC for the Tennessee Titans, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

Chow, 58, reportedly accepted an offer from Titans coach Jeff Fisher on Tuesday to become the team's offensive coordinator, a position that will pay him nearly $1 million annually plus incentives. This would be Chow's first job in the NFL after 32 seasons at Brigham Young, North Carolina State and USC.

"I'm fired up -- it's an exciting opportunity to get into the highest level of football," Chow told the newspaper. "But my family is very, very sad to leave USC because it's been such a great run."

A press conference to announce Chow's hiring is expected Wednesday, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"They're taking a chance on a college guy, and I'm grateful for that," Chow told the Times.

Chow interviewed Friday with the Titans. Chow met in Nashville with Fisher, a USC alumnus, quarterback Steve McNair and other members of the Titans organization before returning to Los Angeles Friday night.

"The thing I'll miss the most is the players, the coaches and the fan base," Chow told the Times in a telephone interview. "It's such a unique place. I'm grateful to Pete Carroll for just giving us the opportunity to be a part of that."

Chow was considered the leading candidate to replace Mike Heimerdinger, who left to serve in the same capacity with the New York Jets

Chow is one of the highest-paid assistant coaches at the college level, earning about $500,000 a year. But it's widely known that Chow longs to run his own program -- an opportunity that would enable him to become his sport's first Asian-American head coach.

Chow has had only three known interviews for college head-coaching positions -- at Kentucky, Arizona and Stanford.

Arizona chose Mike Stoops, the brother of Oklahoma coach Bobby Stoops, a year ago, and Stanford picked Walt Harris three weeks ago.

"Very disappointing," Chow said of not being selected by Stanford. "But it lasted all of about two minutes. What can you do?"

His name came up again when Paul Pasqualoni was fired as the coach at Syracuse by new athletic director Daryl Gross, who left his post as associate athletic director at USC.

"I just think it's the wrong thing for me to pluck someone out of the program I just left," Gross said at the time. "That would be inappropriate."

Syracuse later hired Texas co-defensive coordinator Greg Robinson.
Chow has helped groom Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart into Heisman Trophy winners at USC where the Trojans have won the national title the past two seasons. He spent 27 years at Brigham Young working with quarterbacks such as Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer, Steve Young and Jim McMahon -- a former teammate of Fisher's.

He left after the 1999 season and spent one year at North Carolina State, working with standout quarterback Philip Rivers. He was hired by the Trojans before the 2001 season.

Chow is the fifth assistant to leave USC since their championship season ended.

Thanks. Chow is really trying to stop that three-peat dynasty B.S. And with Chow gone theyll lose at least 1 game next year.

Congrats to Chow! It is about time he got a job in the NFL because he should have had a head coaching job in the NCAA a LONG time ago.

You want to talk about possible racism... You cannot explain why he gets looked over so easily with those credentials.
