The best part about this game against Army by far has been the way the defense played. We don't have to listen to the people bitch and moan about the defense for a whole week. I digress, I loved the defensive playcalling today. Rick Minter seemed to be much more aggressive and got after the young Army quarterback which was nice to see. All in all, a great effort.

Let's talk after USC next week. Truly, I don't think he should be fired anyway lets see what he can do with some talent and depth. As far as today's game I have to agree, "Dude, it was army."

Yeah, but North Carolina's offense has been about as hapless as Army's. Against NC, we slacked off, and they hung 26 on us. Against Army, our D played their absolute best and held Army to 3 points until the seniors came in at the end.

This defense is continuing to gel, and at just the right time.

But then again, yeah dude, it was just Army, so we'll see.

But then again, our offense is right about as good as last year, and our D is somewhat improved. And we took USC to the wire last year, so a slight improvement on D might make all the difference this time...

dude it was army....

I have been a pretty strong voice complaining about the D's play. All year long we saw them make teams like UNC look good.

HOWEVER, they held Army WAY below it's game average. I would say that but for one drive, the D played tough. And the 6 points they got at the end was against the second team...garbage points.

Good job by the D!!!

Well, even though "Dude it was army" is a pretty good arguement not to get overly excited by the defense today, I was glad to see how they got up for this game against a sub-par opponent. As someone said, this defense has slacked off against teams like this in the past, like UNC.

Even though it was only Army, at least this gives the defense a little momentum heading into next Saturday. Doesn't hurt, at any rate.

Anytime you hold an offense (no matter whose it is) to under 175 total yards, you get the thumbs up from me, and that's all I was trying to say. I just loved how Minter actually got after the quarterback today.

Any game where you hold an offense lower then their average is positive for me.

Just helps boost the self esteem of the players and you want them going in expecting to perform well. I want them to be aggressive, confident and make big plays against USC and a good defensive performance may be what they need.

Army had 150 yds Total Offense.

97 yds of the 150 was gained in the 4th Q against the scrubs when the ND scrub offense held the ball for 3 plays and 1:56 of the last 11:00 minutes. Army's TD came after McConnell fumble with 0:36 left.
