i was out of town for a family wedding all weekend so I realy didnt get to see much of the game. that said, i did get to hear the remarks that we didnt use a nickel package on defense at all(through the start of 3rd qtr anyhow). I am wondering if that is attributed to 1.) the lack of debth in the secondary, 2.)the back ups arent playing great and Kerry Neal is or 3.) Kelly saved his nickle looks for michigan?

you guys saw alot more the game than I did, what do you think? i cant imagine that we would be able to pull that off vs. dickrod's spread offense?

I was shocked by the lack of adjustments on the defensive side to defend Marve's roll-outs.

It'll be interesting to see if ND uses the Nickle against Michigan. I know taking the LB out against a running team is not the smartest idea, but if the QB is as quick as DRob then another defensive back might not be a bad idea. DRob is not going to be running anyone over.

How are Michigans Running Backs? Size?

I believe that we did use a nickel at least once - but I would have to look. I am almost certain I recall a couple plays inside the 20 where we utilized it. Unsure, though. Diaco does value not changing formation more than necessary, however. He likes to do different things out of the exact same look.

I think Diaco was ok with the matchups...that is saying alot for our defence. However next week I have a feeling that we will see that xtra DB in - most likely Blanton.

Slaughter was banged up in an already thin secondary. And we had had two Drop LBs out as well. Diaco had to juggle available bodies.

I think we'll see plenty of Motta out there as the nickel guy, he's got a good combination of size and speed.

Assuming Slaughter is ready to go of course.
