LSU squeaked out a couple of 1 run wins in a doubleheader yesterday. Nice story on Coach Mainieri from the Baton Rogue Advocate:

Scott Rabalais: LSU coach Paul Mainieri has no regrets, but his years at Notre Dame were a ‘special time’ | The Advocate — Baton Rouge, Louisiana

That was a fun game to go to, but it also revealed some of the problems with ND baseball at the moment. The crowd was majority LSU fans. Now they have the highest NCAA baseball attendance and travel well, but they should not be making up a majority of the fans at a game against a school with a big sports following that is located quite far away.

Also, Eck Stadium needs to be renovated imo. The field was redone last year and looks great. The stadium itself needs to be improved. I'm sure the same is true of the locker room, practice facilities, etc. It's hard enough to recruit to 'northern schools,' we should at least have top-notch facilities.

UPDATE: Coach Mainieri is quoted in that article as saying that attendance averaged 2,500 his last year here. In 2015 ND's attendance was not in the top 50. I go to many games, and I would guess it is below 500 per game.
