New Scoreboards...

After being in the big house and seeing the new scoreboards, is ND in need of another renovation? I was able to make a solid comparison after being at USF and then the big house, and although I can't stand UMICH, the scoreboards are pretty sweet. Trade-off is obviously blocking Touchdown Jesus even more, although you can only see it from probably row 30 and up... What do you guys think?

The scoreboards we have are ready nice and new daktronics scoreboards. The only real difference is they have a video board that they can show replays. I say with the seating we have we don't have a bad seat in the house. Video boards are for stadiums you can't sere from some seats. If you are going to watch the game on a video board just watch out on tv. Just my opinion.

I disagree. Watching replays would be awesome. It sucks not knowing what happend if you were blocked from seeing something or too far away. The stadium has the room and people need to get over living in the past. There are very few stadiums that do not have them. This is my only complaint about the ND experience. Actually pretty embarrassing that they are not with the times.

BTW...those new boards you speak of...if they really are new...did not even work correctl for the USF game. The one by the tunnel had clock and score issues all game.

Yea, during the USF they really couldn't even program the downs right, or yardages. I absolutely love the look of ND stadium, but honestly the scoreboards just look outdated. I've heard from older alumni that they don't want to see replays on a big screen and neither does the university. I think new scoreboards would be sick, especially for night games. You could even make the argument that older alumni would have a better chance to see plays/keep up with pace of game...

Most arguments against video boards assume a worst case scenario: a huge garish jumbotron rolling commercials between plays and piping in obnoxious pop music. I've yet to read a coherent traditionalist argument against a simple video board for replays.

Most people in the stands paid a considerable sum not to simply "experience" the game, but to watch it. Being able to see a replay definitely enriches the stadium experience, and probably gets people more involved in the game itself. The amount of people in the stands playing with their phones and doing things other than spectating is depressing these days.

In all seriousness it is a joke that they do not have them. Most of our high schools have them in our area, yet a major college does not. Can someone tell me a good reason not to have at least one? Besides the old people complaining. that is not a good reason except for the university wants their money. These are the same old people that tell me to sit down at games. They should be the ones at home watching on tv.
