New Bowl Insight

Now that the season is coming to an end, the bowl picture is starting to look clearer. Non-BCS bowls that is. There are five possible teams we will play. Seminoles, Canes, Terps, GT, or a rematch with North Carolina. Since we are bowl eligible now, there is no way the Gator will not invite the Irish with our following and, of course, our money to spend there. So this brings my question to you folks. Of the five, rank them as to who you would want to play and we will see how this unfolds. Here is mine and why.

1. North Carolina - Revenge would be sweet and I would hope we run the score up. (high)
2. Miami - I think we match up with them fairly well. Would be a great game.
2. Seminoles - same reason as Miami, I have a tie between these two.
4. GT - I would like some redemption from last year - another one we need to run up high!!
5. Maryland - Just not as sexy sounding of a game as the others. Plus, they are a team that if we were to lose yet another bowl game, the only one of the five (besides NC) that would look like shit on our record of consecutive bowl losses.

1. Maryland - My Uncle went there and my cousin is going there now. More of a family rivalry when it comes to football. Plus, they're only good when they played ranked teams, so we would be them.

2. UNC - Just because we lost to them and I'd be interested in seeing what kind of adjustments Chuck would make.

T3. Miami and Florida State - I like their uniforms.

5. Georgia Tech - I don't think we'd be able to stop them. I really don't want to play them.

I don't disagree with the Gator going iffy on a 6-6 team. But, they do know the draw that the Irish will bring, not to mention the TV ratings for the sponsors. I hate that it has turned into a 'money' thing but, facts are facts.

BTW, are you saying we are going to lose to Syracuse?????? I believe the Sun Bowl would be the proper place for ND against possible California or Arizona, that I would have to agree with a possible 6-6 or 7-5 record.

IF we beat USC, at 8-4 we will be in the Gator Bowl. If not, at 7-5 it's a toss up. We may end up in the Sun Bowl IMHO.

2. Florida St for the cache and to beat Old Bobby

3. Miami for all the times they beat up on us.

4. G-Tech for double revenge against Paul Johnson for the Navy debacle and for the Gtech wooping.

5. No win against Maryland, no cache and we either beat them bad or they beat us bad. Not willing to risk it. It would be like when we got punked by NC St. in a bowl game 6 or 7 years ago, no thank you.

1. Miami -- It would be a good game.
2. UNC -- Rematch!! I think we win.
3. FSU -- I believe we would beat them handily.
4. GT -- Slightly less unattractive than a Maryland matchup.
5. Maryland -- No win situation. Beat them and it doesn't matter. Lose to them and we don't matter.

1)North Carolina- We pretty much had them bastards beat.

2)Maryland- This would be a good game. Close (Very close) but I say we could beat the terps with the run game. Maryland is not that great stoping the run.

3)Georgia Tech-This would be a tough game. Toss up I say. Paul Johnson is an awesome coach that took his option attack to Georgia Tech. Might I say that....Georgia Tech has alot more speed than Navy!!!!

4)Florida State- We couldnt beat Florida State. Just wouldnt happen. Too much speed and athleticsm for us. Bowden would beat Weis in this game.

5)Miami (FL) - This wouldnt be close at all. Miami would beat the dog shit out of us. Randy Shannon is one of the up and coming coaches that has these Canes rolling. Miami is very young and they are getting better by the second. Miami is my team to watch out for in 2009! I REALLY WOULDNT WANT TO PLAY THESE GUYS AT ALL!

Wow. I think Sun Bowl usually sells out, despite the teams. Usually snowing and below freezing, every time I have watched that desert game. Least the Sun shining. Winner often goes on to great stuff.

That is hilarious, I went to the GT game at GT. That car was so out of control, it is a CAR not a go cart, they need to give the driver a DUI. I hope it wrecks.

The Gator Bowl would hardly be a neutral site. FSU fans, or Miami fans for that matter, would overwelm the Irish fans. The Irish have a huge following, no doubt, but it isn't that strong in Florida. I have been to many games before and it is always a huge Irish turnout, but the last time we were at the Gator Bowl, NC State was 80% of the stadium. I just think that either of the Florida schools would be to much for this young team to handle.
