This field is absolute trash! Not only does it screw up play after play, but it’s incredibly dangerous !!! Cannot believe a D1 team is allowed to play on this !

Or we can buy them a new turf field and still enjoy the "home" game...damn near 75-25 inside the stadium...

ND Stadium used to be almost as bad as what we saw today.

Both teams have to deal with it. It sucks but complaining about it does no good.

Legitimately ticketed were as low as $9 (minus fees) at kickoff. I screwed up buying mine last Friday.

So, people want us to knock Stanford off the schedule now they’re less than beatable? Same with Navy?

I am confused on why these traditional opponents are good ideas to schedule away from in the future?

I find them valuable opponents.

They should call Purdue. They know how to install a grass field that holds up.

I get what you are saying that both teams have to deal with it. My point is that a player could get a severe injury that could potentially end their career due to the horrible field conditions at that dump of a stadium. Now if Stanford wants to risk their student athletes health by playing on that field that’s fine. But the visiting school shouldn’t have to risk the health of their athletes due to poor field conditions of the home teams field.

So Emmitt Smith was there w his son on a recruiting visit. In the rain, wearing ponchos, watching his host team get bitch slapped, on a JV HS field, surrounded by thousands of empty seats and a majority Irish crowd. Enjoy your visit kid? See you in Gainesville.

Don't see a post game thread so I'll just leave this here.

Stanford must have dipped their unis in bacon grease pregame. It's the only plausible explanation I can come up with for so many missed tackles. That was horrific.

Lenzy is a stud. That kid is electric and needs to get 5-10 touches a game.
Claypool is a beast and will be sorely missed next year. I hope Austin can step up and fill those shoes.
Finally taking regular shots downfield. Waited fasr too long in the season to do it but thank the lord it's now being done.
Lea continues to make in game adjustments as well as anyone. After trailing 17-7 they ran off what, 28 straight points? Holding Stanford off the board for that long was awesome. Garbage TD by the Tree at the end doesn't sit well but it was a convincing win after a sloppy start.
That field is a f***ing joke and an embarrassment and dangerous.
That is all.

where do you want us to play? South Bend on Thanksgiving weekend? Conf teams are occupied. BYU?

There are no good options.

Huh? Stanford and Southern Cal aren’t ”conference teams”?

If we want to schedule other away matchups for the last game of the season other than Cali, we can. Period.

Now you got me thinking of vastly better ways to end the season than f’ing Stanford;

How about in Miami? We used to do that all the time. Do you think they want to protect that all important Duke season ender? Lol

At Texas? After A&M left, they haven’t had a season ending rival. You don’t think they’d jump all over ND at home to close out every other year? Hell even A&M would go for it if we wanted to alternate. Or geez, TCU, Baylor, any of those Texas teams, none of them has a big season ending rivalry.

Maybe the Arizona teams would do the same, too? Its not like the Arizona State/Arizona game is some kind of ratings juggernaut that must be protected.

Hawaii? That would be cool to end your season in Hawaii consistently.

Or maybe at Tennessee? I don’t think anyone would shed a tear over losing the big Vandy season ender every other year.

There’s Plenty of much better possibilities than Stanford.

Yes, the field was a mess. Not necessarily unexpected being the last game of the season and having had heavy rain prior/during game. ND has similar field conditions that expedited the new turf installation.
ND traditionally has ended the season at a "warm weather" site. For years, that was alternating USC and Miami. The series with Miami was canceled in the 90's, replaced with Stanford. And those teams want the ND home game no later than October for their visit to SB.
Don't think the Big 12 or SEC teams would agree to a season ending ND game, as both are a week from a conference title game and many are playing rivals anyway.
A better option may be a season ending game vs Navy with it;s willingness to play "home" games in CA, FL, and HI. Just not sure playing Navy at end of the season is in best interest of ND.

They're locked in through 2024. By that time, the world of college football could be turned on its head.

I was at the game.

It was probably 80% ND fans.

The weather was legitimately awful. It would have been considered really bad for South Bend let alone Palo Alto. It’s also a holiday weekend so there were no students.

Still had a blast watching our boys do work.

Official attendance was 37,391.

I disagree about dropping Stanford, it is a good rivalry game whether they are good or bad.

I am OK ending the season in California, Kelly always stays out there to recruit.

Their field conditions were horrible, it reminded me of our stadium before we got the field turf.

Is it, though? It’s a frequent opponent, I suppose, since the 80s. But I’m not sure it’s really a rivalry. I’ve never once gotten jacked up about a Stanford game.
