Nevada - First Drive

What do you think the first drive will look like? Here are my three scenarios:

1. Notre Dame receives the opening kick and returns it to about the 25. The Irish pound it down Nevada's throat to about the fifty, then do one of their famous play-action deep throws to Tate for the score.

2. Notre Dame starts near the fifty. Play-action, deep ball to Tate.

3. Notre Dame forces a turnover and has a short field. I think they would do a mix of runs, screens, and short passes, then Clausen would fire one over the middle to Rudolph for the touchdown.

I don't care where they are on the field, I hope they air it out first play from scrimmage. I also hope we will already be up by 14 on our first offensive possession:

Opening kick off - return for TD
Defense holds them to 3 and out
They punt - returned for TD
14-0 before our offense takes the field.

I know it won't happen, but it is still August so I can dream can't I?

the entire country knows we can pass. they've had that shoved down their throats in the past 2 weeks.

i know i'm stubborn but I'd be pleasantly surprised to see the irish line up in the I or aldridge offset, go off tackle behind the 600 pounds at guard and tackle, and pick up 12 or 13 on a lead or power.

but hey, that's just me

Remember that Steelers v Ravens game last year? When the Ravens had the ball for about 2 minutes in the first half? I'd go for something like that. I'd love to see just a smashmouth march down the field. 5 yard carries, 3 yard carries, throw in a 13 yard carry. Just beat them down. Then you can air it out after their line is beat to pulp. Take up time and assert dominance on the ground. This Nevada team can throw up the points. Grind them.

I agree I would like to see a start on the 20-25 and 80 yards of rushing for our first score. We need to run the ball to be an elite team!

i can remember in '07 when I used to celebrate that they went 3 and out, and punted. that meant there was no turnover. It hink we're beyond this point...i think

We may be waiting awhile longer for this happen. not to say that the Oline wont be effective, but I dont see them manhandling (no ghey stuff) any team.
