Thanks Nelson now all of us at ND can get on with the rest of are lives.I am sure that degree from Florida will out shine the one you could of had at ND.I am glad you went to a school that will give your coach plenty of time to succeed(see:zook)Because that is why you didn't go to ND. :pity:

he better be good cause Florida has now brought in 4 wr commits. Not to mention all the highly touted WR's they've brought in the last few years. Don't know if he'll see the ball much with the offense Urban runs.

This doesn't come as a surprize to any of us, we all knew he was going to Florida.

I loved his comments earliar this week when he said his choice would surprize everyone. Yeah Dave your choice totally took us by surprize. (sarcastic)

He's committing to Meyer not Florida, like he committed to TY not ND.

We knew he was going there, but it really doesn't make much sense. Is Meyer more successful than Cutcliffe/Weis? Is the depth chart better at Florida? Is it a better school? Florida will can their coach if he goes 8-4 in the third season.

Of course, ESPN has been hyping all year that Florida is not only the greatest job, but also the greatest team in the history of all football.

Just for the politics of it (not because I actually care), I hope Spurrier blows Meyer out of the water. That seat will warm instantly.

This would seemingly open the door for an offer to Thornton. As much as you need speed at WR, some size near the goal line can be a big difference maker.

Good riddence Nelson. We only want kids who WANT to come to ND and love the school and the whole package, not some slick snake oil salesman like the evil pope Urban. Have fun picking the splinters out of your rear.

thank god you ended the "suspense" and chose finally. i hope you make good friends and enjoy visiting them when they are in prison in the next few years. i hope you are as good as you ACT like, because the talent in front of you is overwhelming. you chose a school with great morals too bud. overall, thank you for not coming to nd. there are so many receivers in the country that dont have as many "stars" like you do, but they are probably just as good or better and would love to play in the blue and gold. and i am willing to bet they have more heart to commit somewhere and stay with it, not flip sides like an image whore. i hope you get playing time next year actually, because i would love to see you go across the middle and get f***ing plastered by tennessee. happy trails.

I'm fine with this as I do not want any recruit that does not want to be here and is 100% committed.

That said, and not to bash Nelson, but you have to question his mindset because he is either 1) a bumbling dolt or 2) very, very confident in his abilities.

I guess we'll see which is accurate next season.

He's just a dumb kid. For some reason, this made sense to him, and if we knew why we might think differently too. I still want to see Meyer vs. Spurrier. With that, the potential for Meyer getting ousted after three years in a more 'professional' way.

Add another open recruiting spot for a kid with a BACK BONE. I hope we play Florida in a bowl over the next few (4) years and Ray Herring lights this kid up!!!!!

Thank God and good riddance! I never wanted this kid in an irish uniform anyway. I hope he enjoys playing the spread option in Florida w/ a QB totally unsuited for it, and a coach who's never coached against BCS talent (let alone SEC talent....)

I really do hope Notre Dame somehow gets a chance to play Florida in a bowl or something before this kid graduates, and as someone said already, see Rey Herring (a kid who actually WANTS to be at South Bend) put a lick on him and K.O. him.

it will be fun seeing guys like DJ Hord getting mad props because he plays on a team that will get him the ball, while in 2-3 years we wont even remember the name nelson as he is 3rd or 4th on the depth chart

This is how I feel, too. Although that was obvious in the Nelson threads when he began to cry wolf and waver on his commitment.

yeah! however, after he gets lost in the shuffle he will still have a degree from the university of florida, which i heard can be used very effectively as a piece of toilet paper.

Hey, that's not true!

When I was in high school, the lead cashier at Office Max had a degree from Florida. She probably is make $10-12/hr by now!

Ok come on now guys just cause Nelson made a STUPID decision doesnt mean he is a player who is no good. Heck he is in the top 10 WRs to recruit according to ESPN and i doubt he will just be stuck on the sideline. But even if the worst come remember here in the south a Florida degree DOES mean something although maybe not nearly as much as a ND degree.....

whoooaaa, not so fast...$10-$12 an hour...maybe if they graduate from Miami...but flordia noooo way that's possible. And enough with the flordia cracks...i mean it does take like a 1.5GPA to get in, so you know it has to be tough...they don't let just anyone in. What will a degree from ND get you, somewhere in the medical field, or the law field, or somewhere else that demands respect...who would want that...certainly not me...i want to work for minimum wage for the rest of my life with the BA from Flordia..wait wait. a Phd from flordia :joke:

Ironically, UF wanted me to attend there coming out of high school (probably based on my SATs...not my GPA).

I probably would have been the smartest student @ Gainseville...but they didn't want me for baseball...so I went to another college.

It's sad. I could have been at Office-Max, or a Sunoco attendant, or a waiter at the Waffle House...heck, I could have even become a Pro-Wrassler. *Sigh* Wasted opportunities.

Seriously, I think Nelson's too good to be a bust. But he will regret his decision.

Lyght it seems we are always debating doesnt it? But how come some of u seem to believe that getting a degree from Florida is worse than not going to college at all.

Yes, I think you are my #2 rival (after bmf). ;)

But seriously, I'm just playing. Any degree from an accredited college/university is a good thing. And Florida actually does have a really Communications/Journalism program.

Yeah actually UF isnt too bad, considering it is in Florida. Its better than UM and FSU for academics I believe its the best or only school in Fl that offers a vet program.
But who the hell wants to go to scholl for 8 years and start out making 30,000?

Although he is a punk I think going to a junior college is better than doing nothing.

The University of Florida is a pretty reputable school. I have relatives that went there and it wasn't easy to get in. I don't think bashing Florida or Nelson is adding anymore to this discussion. I'll leave it at that.

I don't think it is either, but it sure feels good. I liken it to an ex-girlfriend... when you're dating, it's all good... but as soon as you break up, they are dirt and you want your shit back pronto.

I'm sorry but no one in their right mind can respect or like a school that had to move the students' section in the swamp, as they were PISSING TOO MUCH on the opposing fans. Brings back memories of when Lou and ND kicked Steve Superior's @$$ in the '92 Sugar Bowl and S. Superior's famous quote regarding ND/Cheerios and a bowl. I had relatives/classmates who went to that Sugar Bowl and saw UF fans with pins that said "Piss on the Irish". Classy.

The Lord works in mysterious ways and luckily he steered the black pope (aka Urban M.) to one of the black sheep of college athletics.

Can't wait to 'rain on their parade' one day.

I don't take florida schools serious. Kids go there to party not receive an education. Three of my buddies from high school went to FSU, and there main reason was because of all the hot girls. Needless to say of the 3 that went there only one received his degree, I never received a college degree and I currently make much more then he does.

Nelson had a 3.9 GPA. Seems like a waste to have a GPA that high and go to a school like Florida. Don't get me wrong I'm sure Florida is a solid school, but when you have a 3.9 GPA and a good SAT score you should be going to a better academic school then Florida.
