Lol. Long story short I own a mid sized fish farm. 99 percent of business/ work is in the spring- fall. Hatch and grow fish to marketable size then sell them. The vast majority of my fish go to people to put in their own ponds. So I can't really sell them now anyway. But if I could grow a couple hundred thousand through the winter I could sell them come spring (fish grow almost none through the winter) Trying to create profitable work for all my employees in the winter rather than cleaning trucks and pissin around like we have been doing for 30 plus years.

Mounting plows on the front of the trucks has GOT to be easier than trying to figure out the salinity of 50 degree water in a tank while navigating by sextant in the sunlight..........

It seems like a geothermal heating like question. Call a place that does geothermal heating.

Interesting. What kinds of fish do you breed?
Catfish, bluegill, hybrid bluegill, yellow perch, walleye, largemouth bass, crappie,Golden shiners, flathead minnowd, goldfish, several kinds of carp, northern Pike, koi, a few small mouth bass and a very few suckers. Just getting started on some hybrid catfish and bow fin.
The tank I'm tinkering with is for growing koi though. If it works I hope to expand it to lots of tanks

I have grown some tigermuskie. I bought them as 10 day old Fry though.

And I think all carp are Asian. So yes. Mainly grass carp Goldfish koi and big heads. Some commons(which is actually a koi.) Amazing how those chinaman bred them to be,so colorful. Had to have took generations. It has taken me 7 generations to get bass to come to commercial feed. And it still takes an act of trickery. Lol

The bad" carp are silvers and black carp. But everything you read just labels them as Asian carp. Kinda dumb really. There is no fish actually called "Asian carp"

Yeah, I'm talking about Bighead Carp and Silver Carp. If someone asks you for them, please tell them to pound sand. They are on the brink of destroying the Great Lakes and they originated with guy's in the south putting them in ponds to clean them out. Then they would escape and they have been reproducing and killing everything in site since. They should be illegal to breed, but thought I would mention it.

Musky are cool fish. I would love to put them in one of my buddy's ponds or in the St Joe behind my house, but I don't know enough about how to properly manage the biology of a fishery and the latter would be illegal. Ha.

Cool stuff man.
