I appreciate that there are individual profiles for these kids, but can anybody tell me which were offered by Kelly initially? The reason I ask is because I am curious to see what kind of kids Kelly is offering for 2011. I realize it is early, and he is probably offering kids he knows from his early efforts on 2011 at Cinc., but I think it would interesting nevertheless. There is a lot of speculation that Kelly is not interested in the top rated players and would prefer to focus on RKGs regardless of rating. Personally, I tend not to believe that he would willingly take a class full of less talented players because he is convinced he can coach them up.

Kelly's ND hire was announced on December 10. A reasonable assumption would be anyone whose recruiting profile was started after that date (and has an offer) was offered by Kelly.

Keep in mind Dave Peloquin was on both Weis's staff and now Kelly's. He put the database together on all the Weis targets and knows all the communication and level of interest that had taken place.

While we can identify who was offered after Kelly's hire, I don't think you can pinpoint who came out of Kelly's UC database versus who Kelly endorsed out of the ND database.

Kelly's recruiting at UC was generally limited to a 300 mile area around Cinncinati if I recall correctly. So offers to 3 star recruits from Kentucky across the river from Cinncinnati like Collinsworth ('10) would likely be Kelly UC targets. A 4 star kid from Oregon or Florida likely wasn't.

Blue and Gold lists 28 recruits with ND offers but they don't list Stars (which are premature and will change significantly over the next year). Scout lists 20 recruits with ND offers, no 5 Stars, 13 - 4 Stars, and 7 - 3 Stars.

Now you have to break them down by offer date and geography to determine if there's a trend.

From another thread:

Brian Smith projects at least 23 recruits next year if ND gets every position of need. Is he just spouting needs, or is there a reason for that number?

Notre Dame Football - Recruiting Prognosis

We only have 9 seniors (not counting guys like hayseed and Paskorz who are eligible for 5th years). add that with 2 or 3 likely open slots this year and potential early draft entree's (reaaly just Floyd and Rudolph unless someone has a monster year). How can we take 23 guys when only 85 scholarships are allowed by the ncaa?

Trey Pettis already verballed to FSU. Wayne Lyons looks liek a beats and if you check his thread he sounds like an ND guy

Not sure. I trust your numbers...that's why I ask.

I count 9 guys eligible, but I'm counting Hayseed and Paskorz.

Taylor Dever
Gary Gray
Andrew Nuss
Emeka Nwankwo
Steve Paskorz
Mike Ragone
Matt Romine
Harrison Smith
Brandon Walker

From that group I would only offer Gray, Hayseed, and Ragone a 5th year. Possibly Nuss, Dever, and Romine depending on their performance next year.
