Sad. But what I've feared for this year. Jess is our AA and Jackie is probably doing all she can. Marina is slightly desperate to help, maybe too much so. Arike is gunning and the lowest percentage shooter in nearly every game. Brianna is either half-asleep or carrying some injury --- I know nothing which, as a senior, would explain her passivity (except that I believe that this is simply who she is.) No one on the bench seems to have a clue about scoring, except Vaughn.
We can't consistently function at high levels with two AAs, one stressed out floor general, and no one else playing real basketball --- no matter how talented. The rest of this season should be quite stressful. Muffet should be grey-headed by the end of it. The major thing that I'm left curious about is whether the "nation" will ever wake up and give the AA honor to Jess ahead of Arike; and whether Jackie will be elevated to near AA status by the "experts." I'm continually stunned by how people who have played the game do not honor the hard things about it: defense, team coordination, rebounding, 5-player help, toughness and competitiveness when it counts.
I was spoiled by the great overall job last year, but the joy is leaving the building I fear. Let us reflect back for a moment upon how important a little lady nicknamed Kat was to us. Stability, toughness, rebounding, help defense, passing, refusing to lose. ... and Koko got there too in the end. There was more reason than we thought when Muffet hugged them both and said: these are my two favorite players. Some of that was honoring the seniors ... some something more.
I wonder if Arike reads IE. Probably the best defensive performance I've seen from her this year
