OT in First Game
OT in First Game
Very competitive game.
UL put players on McCowan throughout the game. They picked up the fouls and McCowan was perfect at the FT line. Under the 2 minute mark, Fuehring with 3 fouls got arms locked up with McCowan and was called for the foul. She slapped the floor demonstratively and drew a technical ... her 5th PF, out of the game.
UL played tough and took and held a 3 point lead as time wound down. Then State hit a 3 to tie the game at 59. Hines-Allen having a poor game, foul trouble and shooting, went coast to coast BUT McCowan went stride for stride with her and got a body on Hines-Allen on the layup which bounced off the rim. NO Foul. UL got the rebound and blew the putback. Overtime.
In OT the first 4 minutes were all State taking a 4-0 lead. UL shot poorly no points until they made a pair of FTs at the 58 second mark on a foul by Vivans which was her 5th. UL got within one than State went back to the Line twice for a pair of FTs. UL's PG Carter fouled out for the 3rd player in the game to do so.
At the 33 second mark, Danberry stripped the ball from the ACC POY, under the UL basket. Danberry was fouled dribbling upcourt and made the FT for a 6 point lead.
Despite the fouls called there is a bunch of mugging going on bodies banging, arm interlocked. McCowan still had 25 rebs and 21 points, 7 of 9 from the foul line.
UL is 1for 8 shooting in OT.
FINAL State 73 UL 63.
