You might get some of the revenue back IF the tailgaters left campus en masse to watch the game at bars (something they don't seem to do much of now).

I would have to disagree BGIF. This past season my friends that would come to my tailgates and not go in to the games said that every place they went to around the stadium was standing room only. And I know Wings ETC locations and Bdubs is packed for college saturdays just because of all the TVs and other games to watch. And for the USC games, whther its at night or not, the tickets will be scarce and expensive. So I think plenty of people will go to restaurants and bars to watch the game for that particular saturday.

I wonder if comcast is pushing this? I'd love it, and spend my last dime to be there

You're missing the point. Those people that watch the game at a bar will do so anyway but the restaurants and bars won't get the post game business they usually do. The 20 somethings will still party but ND's base at the stadium isn't 20 somethings. The demographics aren't there. I've taken my wife's niece and her roommates out to dinner in South Bend and dropped a couple hundred dollars. We would not be going out at 1AM for sit down dinners. We've got a 13 hour drive the next morning.

No matter how cool a night game might seem, ND doesn't have an LSU drunken fan base. I've been to night games at LSU and the L.A. Coliseum. LSU games are raucous because half the fans are drunk before kickoff. I never seen so much liking at football game as in Baton Rouge. In L.A. I went with the Getheralls to a diner type place for coffee with some of the other players families and then home. None of them were interested in starting to party at 1AM in L.A. Had the game ended at 5 or 6 we might have partied to 1 or 2AM. That group is more typical of the crowd that attends ND games then the LSU mob.
