Now really, isn't all this talk about where we rank in the national polls a little silly? The sportswriters love us, or love our "legend," anyway, and rush to anoint us every year before we've proved anything on the field. Proving something on the field?....that ain't been our specialty since forever ago, and, so long as the man with the glandular problem is here, it's gonna stay that way. We have an embarrassingly weak schedule....just compare it to any SEC team, for example, but if we only manage to lose 4-5 games this season against weak competition a lot of posters here will be clamoring for top 25 ranking, and the sportswriters will probably give it to us!

Trolling winsome? You seem to have a great grasp of misconception about ND without much correct knowledge. The sportswriters love is standard SEC slime.

Fill free to list all those sportswriters and poll voters who "love us, or love our legend".

Up until ND was ranked in the '09 polls, ND had NOT been ranked for, I believe, 33 weeks of polls. That was supposed to be the longest or second longest ABSENCE in 50 years.

RESPONSE TO "Weak Scheduling"/SEC scheduling.

We have an embarrassingly weak schedule....just compare it to any SEC team, for example, but if we only manage to lose 4-5 games this season against weak competition a lot of posters here will be clamoring for top 25 ranking, and the sportswriters will probably give it to us!

Now you've got 2 posts up championing the SEC's schedule against ND. I repeated Phil Steele's impartial evaluation below. It's a repeat of my answer to you other "uninformed" post.

By the way winsome, how many Div II schools are SEC teams playing this year? Why don't you look it up so you would be informed.

Do you know that ND is one of only 5 Div 1 teams that hasn't played a Div II since the NCAA started that designation?

Do you know that ND hasn't played a Div II caliber team since the 1930's about 75 years ago.

Yes, LSU has decent schedule, Phil Steele ranks it the 21st toughest for '09 while Steele ranks ND way, way down at #36th toughest (3 spots ahead of OSU and 4 spots ahead of Texas).

As for those SEC powerhouses:

UF #34 (that's 2 spots ahead of our "fluffy schedule"!)

Bama #68 (that's 32 spots fluffier then ND!)

Mississippi #77 (is that a fluffernutter schedule?)

Oh, and Kentucky who's getting poll votes have the #52 schedule.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
