Junior day camp will be Feb 26th, here are a list of guys who have announced there coming so far. I put up there junior H.S. stats. Alot of good players. This James Aldridge kid looks like a stud.

Cool. THanks for the info. Looks like CDub & Co's emphasis on the MidW and Chicagoland is paying dividends already. Kirk Ferentz better enjoy this year's class, because it's not going to get any better, as ND's back in town.

With Ron Zook at Illinois and Charlie Weis at ND, the Land of Lincoln will now be fenced off.

Demetrius Jones had a very good visit in Champaign. Checked out the basketball game, met with Zook and the other coaches. I hope that ND utilizes Corey Mays in trying to recruit this kid. Morgan Park HS is a public school power in Chicago. Lots of talent. Jones is the best Chicago area QB in a long time. Would make a great replacement for Quinn when he graduates.

I don't see Demetruis going to Illinois. Ron Zook is a really bad coach. All that talent at Florida, and he still couldn't win. He's a good recruiter, but even that is a little overrated, it's not to hard to recruit at Florida.

I don't see a 5 star player like Demetruis going to play for Zook.

If I had to guess, I'd say ND and Purdue would be his leaders. At ND he could be the starter after Quinn leaves, and he'd still have 4 years of eligibilty left. At Purdue he could start his freshmen year. Either way both schools would offer him some early playing time.

Michigan is pretty much set with QB's, he wouldn't start there until maybe his 3rd season...

This camp is reserved for midwest guys, but we have three guys from Kentucky coming, Leonard Gordon, Micah Johnson (considered one of the best Defensive Ends in the country) and, Will fidler. This must be Cutliffe's doing....There's alot of studs coming to this event, more then usual....

Well this may strike you as odd, being from the mid-Atlantic, but Kentucky usually gets lumped in with the midwest. They may be in the SEC, but it was a Union state and it does border Indiana.

The real question is whether the Great Plains states are seperate from the Midwest, and I would say they are.

I'd be very careful here underestimating Zook and Illinois. Jones was very impressed with him and the coodinator from Marshall that was with Pennington and Leftwich who is on the Illini staff (name escapes me...anyone?)

These Chicago Public League kids like the appeal of staying close to home. Jones is about two hours from Champaign, 90 minutes from ND. That and he'll be able to get into Illinois and play pretty quickly. Jones will be behind Quinn for one year, plus Sharpley. Things to consider.....

Green is a stud. Plays both ways as an RB/LB. Scouted him twice this past fall as a junior. Runs to the hole without hesitation or fear.

I saw Morrissey twice as a junior. WR and S. He's not as talented as Tommy Z, but he's smart and plays hard. Probably going to MSU.

Edwards is a DB and QB for the 8A champs Downers Grove North. This kid carried that team on his back to a state title in the big school division. Might be closer to Tommy Z in terms of ability and the fact that both were HS QB/DBs.

Bernaky is from Downers Grove South, where their last two stud OL O'Donnell and Gage went to Illinois. Could be a trump card in the recruiting process. Big. Pancaker when it comes to blocking.

Benson is from Joliet Catholic, so you know he's tough. Doesn't have elite speed. A 3 star guy at best.

We have some real good DE prospects coming Crumbie, Mcwhirter, and Micah Johnson. DE isa very important position for us to recruit this year.

How does a player go to a Junior Day? My kid is on scout.com (Kris Cooke, 6' 2" 350lb DT from Homewood Flossmoor in IL) who's really interested in ND. I'm guessing it's too late for him to get involved -- is it by invitation?

I would think if you can make it to the game it is never too late. I would call Rob Ianello, the recruiting director. He is in the directory at www.nd.edu.

All these juniors will be attending the ND UCLA game on Saturday. Thats a big game for ND, the fans should be real loud....

On an updated(5-20-05) U of Mich blog, Brighton is rumored to have a strong lead over Mich. and Mich St. This would be a great pickup at the CB position. Would also love to see Darrin Walls come to ND. Don't know what type of chances we have with him though, but if he wants early playing time...come to ND.

Walls is looking very good right now. ND's chances are very good. Michigan has depth at DB, ND does not.

He also has very high interest in Virginia. Guess time will only tell.

I don't think Walls has an offer from UVA. ND, Michigan and Florida appear to be the three leaders for his services at this point. Ohio State, Penn State, PItt and WVU have all offered scholarships as well.
