The men are up on #10 Louisville: 32-30 with 14:00 to go and looking good; while the #3 women are down by 1 with 15:00 to go.

Edit: Men on ESPNU; women on CBS

The men are going to overtime at Lousiville - great effort either way.

And the women are tied with 17 seconds to go.

In other news, alien space ships are lining up to attack the earth . . . and no one cares because Arik Armstead isn't involved:)

I'll be honest, I wrote this team off after the Indiana game. I thought they would get absolutely streamrolled in Big East play. There's a long way to go, but these kids have done everything to prove me wrong so far. Grant and Atkins are growing up before our eyes, and it's awesome to know that those young men still have two more years after this season.

Also, what a great win for the women's team. I would love to see the Irish women play my St Bonaventure Bonnies women in the tournament!

EDIT: I also loved how the color man basically said "Scott Martin sucks" multiple times during the game:eek:grin: But you can see why Brey likes the kid. He has a great attitude and that defensive play to take the charge to force OT was outstanding. The same goes for Joey Brooks: not a supremely gifted basketball player, but you can tell he is an invaluable veteran leader in a generally inexperienced squad.

I wrote the team off long before that. It doesn't matter what they do, if they make the tourney, they'll be bounced in the first round. Can't wait for next year though when Scott Martin is gone and the big man who transferred from MSU can play.

Just making the tourney is good enough for me. When I was growing up in the 90s, ND basketball was totally irrelevant. Things sure have changed.

I don't love Mike Brey, but he has done a hell of a job with this program. If he can get this team into the tournament... well, my hat will certainly be off to him and his players.

You're right. It is better to be a consistently decent but not great team than a consistently bad team. I just get frustrated sometimes when ND gets great regular season wins, but then loses to a vastly inferior team in the tourney.

Irish lead USF 60-47 with only 1:12 to play. Looks like another quality conference win for the boys!

Home win streak will be extended to 29 games in a matter of minutes.

Reality just showed up in the name of UCONN. We simply don't have the athletes. Brey's a good coach, but a poor recruiter. It's time for a change if ND is serious about being a quality program again. I suspect they're not, and Brey will be there for at least 6 more years, while ND continues to be a #45-50 program nationally.

Hey, quick question.

Have you seen next years recruiting class? Did you take into consideration that Eric Katenda lost vision in one of his eyes? Do you really not consider Atkins and Grant as "athletes"? Auguste, Burgett, and Biedscheid are gonna be a huuuge addition to the team. Also, Arik Armstead is still an outside shot, and he would use a football scholly so Brey wouldn't have to worry about that.

Brey plays with the cards he's dealt. He's an awesome guy, most ND fans only follow football. This program is headed in the right direction regardless of what you say. And honestly, what coach would ND be able to pull in to improve this franchise?

Brey is the right guy, period.

Agree with the above. It sucks to lose the home-court streak, but it was going to happen at some point this season. This team just doesn't have the horses (yet) to compete with the length and athleticism that nationally ranked teams often feature.

IMO this team could make a run at the NIT if it ends up in that tournament. It would take a miracle to get to the big dance with this crew.
