OSU was able to pull a sitting HC at a big program to come to be their OC. They've apparently had no problem keeping Hartline, who is a huge difference-maker for them, even though he could go be an OC or HC somewhere else. This is the difference between good and great.

We'll see who they hire. There isn't any obvious "hot" candidate though, like when they hired Knowles, since Haines is staying at IU.

Okay I guess what the other poster is pushing back on is you clearly are using examples you don’t really know anything about, admittedly.
Correct 💯

I'm shocked that I logged in to get some info and ND is talking Ash. Maybe we are all blinded and ND is not some glorified program we all think. Because Ash probably wasn't on PSU, OSU or anyone other blue blood that needs a DC radar. But he's on ND radar and about to land the job. Am I crazy to think that's beneath us....maybe

OSU seems to be almost going the same route as nd with promoting their safety coach and bringing in someone with dc experience

Now I feel like we are speaking the same language.

I think like I said it's if you strike out with the big names like Leonard and you have a young stud on the staff but hasn't done it their own yet which it seems both staffs have

And OSU is rumored to also be looking at ash so I guess we are with the big boys
No, OSU is obviously gonna poach Kirby Smart and make him DC.

I swear this fanbase has like an allotment of happiness it allows itself and that was all used up so now it’s back to distress.

Just copy and paste who OSU is looking at. I said Mike Tressel a month ago wouldn't be a bad hire. But knowing OSU, they'll talk Fickell into going from Wiscy HC to their DC.

It's just frustrating because every time I feel like ND is right there it just feels like they get ND'd
We were just in the natty. L o l

Just curious. I'm not the biggest fan of Prister, but are there ANY Notre Dame beat writers that everybody here doesn't talk shit about? Seems like most people here trash pretty much all of them.

People just want an informal, iconoclastic Joe Fan type who is professional and plugged in to the program; fun and excitable but measured and realistic.

Hartline might be a good WR recruiter, but I question who is coveting him for any OC or HC jobs.

It should be taken into consideration that he's also an alum of Ohio State.

He can recruit highly touted WR out of HS and not f*ck it up. I'll give him that.

Wasn’t he also just demoted by OSU to bring Chip Kelly in?

Okay. And that's enough to win a title.

To be honest I just started listening. I like Hit and Hustle the best. I know nothing about any of the insiders because I’ve never been a member. I do read Sampson on the Athletic. I may be in the minority but I like Goolsby on BGI too. I just find Prister to be very abrasive and doesn’t like anyone to have the slightest difference of opinion with him. He seems very argumentative and gets angry. Again, I just started listening this fall but I like Flammang the best

Listened to IBs show today and even they are super negative about the hire and they are normally big homers over there and positive about everything

When he was a DC at Texas (for 4 months) he didn't get out of the gate very fast...gave up 56 to Texas tech, TCU 33 and Oklahoma 53. Even is Natty run with OSU wasn't great def. They just scored a ton of points. Dudes a bum, I'm convinced.

But we just were in the Natty, so we should all shut up and be happy we got our fix for at least 7-10 years.
