ND Coaches

Bob Davie is the worst ND coach of all time. He never beat one big school besides Michigan. He made Notre Dame look pathetic in the route we took against Oregon State in BCS. A vast majority of his recruits were from Lou Holtz. When Lou Holiz left and his recruits depleted the program began to stink and the schedules were very weak that was we got beat bowl game after bowl game. You could give any school in the country ND schedule right now and I guarantee they would not be undefeated. If Ty win’s out and wins the bowl which hasn’t be done in 10 years he is going no where. San Francisco will not hire a college coach. I use to be on the band wagon to fire Ty, but after the schedule we have had this year I think ND has played great. Blame Kevin White he puts together these impossible schedules he should be fired. It was a different time at ND when Holtz was coached. If Notre did not hold academic so highly we would have thug players like Maurice Claret. Besides ND is getting a bad rep for firing coaches to quick. Urban Meyer will be at Florida next year.

Exactly my point

Exactly my point

Im not saying Bob Davie was great or even good BUT when Davie has a better record then Willingham at the same point in their career what does that say about Willingham?

And Actually the only good thing about Davie was his recruiting which wasnt as good as Holtz (of course) but better then Willinghams, which again says something about Willingham. :swordfigh

The facts on Willingham

The facts on Willingham

Now here is a good article on Willinghams career and Notre Dames coaches.

Although the author wants Willingham removed I believe he wrote the article using only historic facts.

After reading this I do not know how you can supprot Willingham.

Its not about WHO WAS BETTER BETWEEN DAVIE AND WILLINGHAM its about Willingham being able coach at this level.

Do not blame the schedule, because we did beat 2 of the best teams we will go against this year( USC still to come) but lost to 2 teams we should have beat. Schedule difficulty has nothing to do with losing to BYU and BC.NOTHING. If you can beat Michigan and UT and say our schedule was too hard. Thats ludacris.

I think another thing that Notre Dame coaches are notorious for, aside from wins/losses/statistics, is the personality and persona. We're used to having a fiery type walking up and down the sideline.

Willingham is the polar opposite. Not that its bad, I just don't prefer that. I love when a coach goes up and high fives players for making good plays, who'll get in a refs face and give him his two copper, and more importantly oozes with ND passion.

Just my take.

Why wouldn't the 49ers hire a colle coach. Plenty of college coaches get hired in the NFL. Bill Walsh loves the guy. Despite Ty's Failure at ND many NFL GM's still consider and say, Ty is a coaching prospect. Some GM's say he's in the top 5 of college coaches who can make the jump to the NFL. If Ty were to win out the rest of this season (highly doubtful) and finish 8-3 beating the number 1 team in the country in USC is stock would rise big time.
I've always felt Ty's personality was better suited for the NFL. His X's and O's would be dredful in the NFL, although being with Walsh could help him big time......
