Does anyone know of any good ND Football books?

or any links to purchase them?

Thanks

Read 'Shake Down the Thunder.' This is a must.

I've only read a few others after that. There are literally 100s of generic coaches' stories books, most of which are probably so-so. 'Leahy's Lads' is okay, as is 'Notre Dame's Four Greatest Coaches.' But I don't think you will learn as much from those, and my taste is prone to academic books.

Ara Parseghian wrote a badass coaching manual, and Robert Burns' three volume set on the history of the entire university is supposedly very good.

That book was Yaeger's revenge for not being allowed to write a book with the approval and cooperation of Lou Holtz and the administration. He actually wrote two books attacking Holtz, and-based on the fanfair Lou's retirement brought-didn't change too many opinions of the man. He is a sensationalist who writes books on 'sports corruption' for a living.

Agree with RIP RAP on Shake Down the Thunder as a good one. Also A FIGHTING SPIRIT by Lou Holtz and Heisler is a great motivational book covering 1988 championship season.

My personal favorite is TALKING IRISH by Steve Delsohn.

For Hoops - Diggers new book Tales from the ND Hardwood is so good.

"What it Means to Be Fighting Irish" was a Christmas gift from my dad, the greatest ND fan of all. Players from the 1940s up until Jeff Faine talk about how they got to ND and their four years there. Great stuff. Ara does the forward. Tim Prister is the author.

"Notre Dame Golden Moments" John Walters is the author. Ara does the forward again. 20 memorable events in ND football history.

"Natural Enemies" by John Kryk. The story of ND and Michigan. Makes me hate those bastards even more.

"Fighting Spirit" is a must. Lou is the man.

"Return to Glory" was good. Ty's first year. Might be too late for this one. Hindsight is 20/20, though.

It begins with the start of each program and starts with their first game and goes up until the 2002 win during Ty's first year. Lots of good stories and interesting history. There is also an appendix in the back with a series history, records and I think there are box scores from each game too.

I haven't finished it yet. Bit of a longer read for me for some reason.

What else did you want to know?

Well I just recieved Notre Dame's 20 greatest moments. I just skimmed through it and it looks fantastic. Great Presentation and it comes with a DVD with game footage of all 20 moments. Beautiful

the other one I got was " What it means to be Fighitng Irish" which also looks great personal accounts from players from the beginning all the way to Courtney Watson.

Luck86, those are the two best I've read in a long time. Must haves in any ND library.

I've heard Hornung's book Golden Boy skips over a lot of his four years at ND. About a chapter's worth of material.
