In my last thread I asked which ND sport was the best on campus. Now the next question is, how far do you think ND will go in BB.

I think ND will go farther than last year maybe even make it in the final four in March Madness.

I've been to every game except Northwestern (watched on TV) - we are very sloppy and play loosey-goosey. I love Tim and even Carlton shows flashes. But we can't play 1st halves the way we have all season or we'll have a lot more Northwesterns. I think we are 8th - 9th in Big East which is better (the Big East not our finish) than anyone expected (11 teams in top 40). And, end up a 11th or 12th seed or miss and end up NIT again.

If you are talking about the women, then yea, I think they can make a run at the final four.... as for the men...... this could be another long, frustrating year.

Losing Ben Martin for the year really hurt....I expected him to average 10 pts. 8 boards a game...our defense is too slow

But now the women have a good shot a the title...we will see once conference play starts.

Starting Abromaitis is the right move... we should have used Brooks more extensively... may be to late now... now we will run into trouble with bodies wearing down near year end... Defense is atrotious.. too slow to rotate... too slow in transition... and in zone they play with their hands down... PUT YOUR HAND IN SOMEONE"S FACE!!!! Weak-ass teams are shooting in the 60's percentage-wise in the second half... and, too many games against weak-ass teams are only single digit leads at half... asking for trouble... Brey doesn't develop talent... I think we could have been much better team with Abromaitis playing last year... Hillesbrand dispapperaed after he got the shiner early last season... this year we could have been decent, but Martin got hurt.
We will finish 9-10th in Big East and make the 8 in the NIT.
Sad...

Is this a joke?

ND has a pathetic OOC schedule and the Big East will tear them apart because of this. 17-14 sounds about right. Hopefully they fire Brey.

I thought the program was terminated when Digger left. Well, I stopped watching. Maybe they will have a better go of it when they join the Big Ten.

Post-Digger, ND basketball a joke? I can remember LaPhonso Ellis, pretty good player out of Quincy. Last All-American was.........

Paxson hit a game winning shot (pass from Jordan) in a final game to win a championship with the Bulls... has to go to Paxson... sure it was with Jordan - but he has rings.

Troy Murphy

Two-time first team. Also on the 2000 team: Guyton, Mihm, Carrawell and Fizer. Who?????? Exactly.

1970s: Austin Carr, John Shumate, Adrian Dantley (twice). Them I've heard of.

Carr, Shumate, Dantley, Jackson, Orlando, Tripucka, Laimbeer, Paxson, Rivers, Ellis. Not sure anyone in the last 15 years gets off the bench.

When I was 14 I played against Augie Carr... I was 5'1" (now 5'8") and I went to Johnny Dee's ND Basketball Camp at Lake Wawassee (Ind.)... the lowest ranked kids (me) played Augie 5 on 1 and he beat us 10-0. He let us get shots up (encouraged us) but we sucked that bad.
I quickly learned that kids with bad hand-eye coordination in high school are most usually called wrestlers.

Luke Harangody (sp?) is a beast, good game vs UCLA today. What happened to UCLa though they've been in the Final 4, 4 of the last 5 years, but now they're just...ugh. Loss of players I guess.

They've lost everyone, and their best player at the beginning of the year (Gordon) is leaving or something. It's a rebuilding year. That's why I don't like teams that get one and done players. No consistency and no hype for the future. I'm a Butler fan. I know that next year they will be a Final Four contender because I have no doubt everyone is coming back. For UCLA or similar teams, those players could go pro next year and screw over the schools.
