It feels like ND needs to beat Va Tech and North Carolina to reach the semi-finals to have any shot of making the field. Even with that, I'm not sure if it will be enough.

RPI isn't very good (still despise the RPI as a significant factor) and Quad 1 record is bad.

However, if they were to win against Va Tech and North Carolina and then lose in the semi's that would have them finishing 14-2 down the stretch.

Funny story for you NAIA folks (I have many, we were a wild bunch)

…my junior we’re literally just getting off the bus in Lewiston, ID to Check in into hotel Sackajowia. (Sp?). Our stand in coach (not Hersh) does a headcount. Where’s Zamora? Zamora was an LSU transfer and carried a wife and kids with him. He didn’t give a fuck. Was like 26. Threw about 96. Was our #2. Anyways…

…Zamora was across the street buying the team a hooker. Must have cost a grand. He didn’t care. We’re barely in the hotel and…knock, knock. She blew the whole team. Lol. Good times in ID.

I finished 3rd and 5th in the country. #8 was our lowest ranking.

1998 a couple of years before I got there Hersh was loaded. 8 hitting over .300 and 6 All Americans. Yes,6!! You only field 9. National Runner Up that year. It’s literally why I decomitted from Ball State. My choices were to play for a .500 MAC team or chase a Natty.

Huntington’s field is pitcher friendly to left and center. Right field is super friendly to hitters. Probably the shortest RF dimension in the Crossroads at 305. So short that their field doesn’t meet the NAIA requirement to ever be able to host an NAIA opening round.

Owen Willard from Huntington won Crossroads Player of the Year and finished with 19 HR’s. In 18 home games he hit 10 HR’s compared to 9 HR’s in 35 Away/Neutral games. Right hand hitter, but would generally try to push everything to RF because of the short porch and was very successful.

I looked up Tech’s dimensions earlier from their website. They claim 310.

I’m assuming that NAIA must’ve changed their requirements at some point. Stated minimum is 315.

Could a team petition the NAIA for an exception? I don’t know.

They’re welcome to report 310 but I’m the one who put in the fair/ foul line. It’s 305 at best. I lived in that graveyard.

All ND had for pitching this year was Jack Radel and he was clutch, the rest of the staff wasn't impressive. This was a young team, after they swept Clemson they went through a string of playing ranked teams and mostly got swept. They need to add some pitchers.

Pitching tends to be drafted out of HS or developed at JUCO.

Aces are becoming few and far between. And they only go 6 anyways. 7, 8, and 9 is just as important.

Thank you. Yeah, that’s the way it works in college baseball. Pitchers aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed. Certainly puts ND at a disadvantage

Similar to men's basketball, all the blame shouldn't go to coaching, Bevacqua needs to give a damn about other sports.
