lol the reason they're ranked #17 overall is because their "pure points predictor", something they claim is the best predictor of future games, has them at #32. I know ND's not #3, but they certainly could beat the likes of boise state, oregon, hawaii, and BYU (who's ranked #7!?), and HAVE beat Penn State, who's ranked higher as well. So given how low ND is ranked in pure points and how odd the rankings seem, i have a feeling notre dame should be a bit higher than #17

8/25 Sagarin's Preseason Ranking has ND ranked #17 in Rating, ELO_CHESS, and Pure Points Predictor
9/4 ND had risen to #3 in ELO-CHESS but was #5; #21 in the Predictor.
9/9/06, #3; #10
9/16 #16; #23
9/23 #7; #24

Since then Sagarin's ELO_CHESS has had ND around #7 while the Predicator has slowly risen through the 20's to the current 32.

ND is getting the advantage in ELO_CHESS of playing a difficult schedule when MOV is not counted. In Predicator which counts MOV, ND's small margin of victory in most games and lack of covering the spread along with the big whipping by UM, are all hurting ND. In Predicator "Style Points" counts.
